The deadline is approaching.
Just think, by giving away just one point you could earn 25 points instead of 10. Some restrictions apply. Void where prohibited. |

The results are in! A few people change places. ralphmerridew (who failed to send) made a great jump. Everyone gained points except for Quailman (who broke even).

Round 6: Knockout
The playing area for this game is 1000 unit long and 1000 unit high rectangle. Players will score points by having their brick survive or by shooting down other bricks. The starting points of the guns must be on the bottom edge (0 to 1000).
(x=0, y=0) is located in the bottom left corner for this round.
Two points will be scored for every brick a player shoots down.
Everyone gets one free gun. Additional guns can be purchased for 3 points. Shooting down a brick more than once will not net any additional points.
Everyone get to place ONE brick. Bricks will come from a set of predetermined shapes. Costs and dimensions are listed below.
A- FREE- 25 by 25 square. Scores 20 points if it survives.
B- 3 Points - 40 by 25 rectangle. Scores 36 points if it survives.
C- 10 Points - 15 by 30 rectangle. Scores 25 points if it survives.
D- 5 Points - 20 by 20 rectangle. Scores 20 points if it survives.
E- 5 Points- 30 by 30 square. Scores 35 points if it survives.
F- 30 Points- 40 by 30 rectangle. Scores 70 points if it survives.
G- 15 Points- circle with a diameter of 30. Scores 38 points if it survives.
I will take submissions in just about any form. If you give something like "upper right hand corner of shape E is at (453, 872) and the gun located at 76 from the left at an angle that will barely mess the lower right corner" that is fine.
You will score 2 points if you shoot down your own shape. It will not survive if this happens.
Deadline: Sunday, June 27

I take it guns will shoot through bricks, meaning I can't hide a brick behind a different brick? also bricks can overlap?
PS: ralphmerridew and Amb both received 30+ points from other players...what am I chopped liver? _________________ I'll have a P please... |

Yes, guns shoot down everything in the path. Yes, bricks may overlap.
I forgot to mention that someone attempted to give Zag a few points.
Also bricks B-G are upgrades. You only get to place ONE brick. |

Are the dimensions wrong, or is it really a square? just asking because the other ones you labeled correctly?
Then why are the others labeled squares?
Submission coming

When an unnamed player first sent in a creative entry which filled the space with bricks (thinking players could purchase many bricks but only one gun), I pointed out the error. In this player's second entry, he rotated one of the bricks. I didn't really have the chance to look at it carefully, so I mentally said "screw it, I guess I will allow it".
I fully remembered my intention with blocks B and C was tall verses flat. But it wasn't very clear. I guess that is why groza has asked the question.
The easiest way to solve the problem will to tell someone where all the incorrectly oriented bricks are so they can shoot them down for me.
After pondering on this entirely too long we have...
roll=1, fee of 2 points for rotating
roll=2, allow it.

Quailman is the best shot, knocking out PuzzleScot and xalolo
xalolo hit groza528
ralphmerridew hit lexprod
PuzzleScot also hit lexprod
The most popular spot to shoot from was the left side.
Updated scores
118 PuzzleScot
118 Termital
88 ralphmerridew
86 sAbLLimINal
83 jesternl
71 Quailman
68 Amb
65 groza528
49 dethwing
42 lexprod
16 xalolo
I realize now that the blocks may have been too small or worth too much. Or maybe the guns were too expensive (I was a bit afraid of the possibility of someone purchasing 30 guns.)

I might have bought an extra one also, though I made the most of the one I had.
I didn't read the part about rotating until after I sent my entry. It looks like I am the only one who rotated his brick.
I didn't mean to hit Xalolo and PuzzleScot. I was aiming at Jesternl. |

Round 7: Snakes
After much thought about how this game should work, here is the final set of rules.
Snakes will be played on a 9 by 18 grid. Horizontal directions go from A to I (ABCDEFGHI) and vertical directions go from 1 to 18.
Snakes may start from ANY space and then make a continuous path. Diagonals are not allowed. Your snake will run until it hit another snake (or your own!). I will accept paths in any format that I can understand.
Any number of eggs may also be placed anywhere on the grid. Eggs can have anywhere from 1 to 30 points (whole numbers only). An egg that was placed on a square that a snake never reaches will earn twice the number of points that was put in. Eating eggs also earns a bonus. You may eat the eggs you placed yourself.
Doubling If two players submit the exact same path, their snake score is doubled! The snake will have move together.
However, there isn't enough space for three people.
If two snakes start off on the same path and then diverge, they will earn double points only for the part they were together. They cannot merge back.
This also means that if two players happen to choose the same starting place, their snake will continue! (But if three chose that place they all die)
Two snakes that reach a single square at the same time will both score for that spot and any eggs that may be there.
Scoring in brief
For every square you snake reaches, you earn 1 point. This continues until you hit another snake.
Eating eggs- If your goes to a spot with an egg (or eggs) in it, a bonus of 1 point for each egg is earned!
Eggs- earn twice the number of points put in (if not eaten)
Doubling- if exactly two people have the exact same path, their snake scores are doubled for the portion that was the same.
Submitting: I recommend picking a starting place and then giving directions for about 20 spaces. After that something like "and go up one, right five, up one left five...". If you wish to try to create an area for yourself, layout the boundary and say something like "spiral around clockwise until the end (but don't go to spot F5!)"
Up / Down / Left / Right directions are probably easiest for me.

Can we collude to have our snakes paths match?
"You may eat the eggs you placed yourself" - why wouldnt we place a 30 point egg on cell x,y and then start on x,y so that we are near guaranteed the points?
"Doubling- if exactly two people have the exact same path, their snake scores are doubled for the portion that was the same"
Are eggs doubled? |

From the opening post--
Players are allowed to discuss freely at all times, in public (this thread) or privately (bed rooms, messages, encrypted smoke signals etc). Sometime cooperation might be good. Sometimes sweet revenge might be better.
If you placed a 30 point egg at x,y and started at x,y, it would cost you 30 points to place the egg and you would get one point for eating the egg. If your snake travels to a space with an egg, it will be eaten. If you wish not to eat one of your own eggs, don't travel to that square!
Doubling only applies to the path. Placing an egg at the same location of another player does not give them any point based benefit.
Also, if say 8 players placed an egg in a single spot and nobody traveled there, all eight would score normally. If a snake traveled there, that snake would eat all eight eggs (+8)! |

If we eat the egg, do we only get the 1 bonus point or do we also get the points that egg is worth?
"Your snake will run until it hit another snake (or your own!)." - Are snakes 1 square big or are they bigger? |

You get the same one point if you eat a 30 point egg or a 1 point egg.
In some ways 30 one point eggs is better than 1 thirty point egg but at the same time the potential increase in other people's scores isn't so good.
For the running into bit...
Once a spot has been visited by a snake, any snakes that try to enter will die at that point.
The A snake continues
The B snake ends at B4
The C snake continues (B5-B10 don't really exist) |

You get 1 point for the egg you ate. If you put 19 points in it, that's a net of -18. |

It appears the idea of doubling wasn't very popular. Amb/dethwing and Quailman/Termital started in the same spots (the latter met a quick demise by lexprods start).
Of the eggs that were eaten, half were done by xalolo. Keep your children away!

Round Eight: Investments
There are three different investment funds you can risk any number of points into. At the end of the round and the fund is under a certain number, players will receive their fat bonus checks! If there are too many points in the fund, the investment goes sour. Players will be given a portion of their points back.
Players may invest in one, two, or all of the funds. Any number of points can be put into each fund.
You may borrow up to 100 points from the moderator. There is a 10% interest on borrowed points. Alternatively, you may just risk the points you already have.
Fund A-- Boom or bust
Account can hold 175 points, if under then 3x, if over 0.25x
Fund B-- Middle road
Account can hold 255 points, if under then 2x, if over, 0.35x
Fund C-- Safe and slow
Account can hold 342 points, if under then 1.2x, if over 0.65x
All fractional points will be truncated. Scores cannot go negative.
If you borrowed points and the investment goes sour, you lose quite a bit.
Lets say you had 100 points and borrow 100 points and put 100 in A and 100 in B. The A fund does well (100 x3 = 300 [net 200]). The B fund goes sour (100 x 0.35 = 35). Your score would be 300(A) + 35(B) - 100(principle) -10(interest) = 225 |

Note: it is better to use your own points instead of borrowing. Only borrow if you wish to use more points than you currently have.
If you borrow 100 points, you will give back 110 at the end.
Scores still cannot go negative. |
