with Goodwill's Super Saturday coming up I decided to check out one of the new games I got last time I went Goodwilling. Perfect 10 is a pretty good mix of Trivial Pursuit and Mastermind and I thought it would work well in forum form.
The rules:
1. each player will be given a random question set. Each set is composed of 10 multiple choice questions in the categories of Geography, Sports, Science, History, Quotes, Music, Literature, Nature, Art, and Movies.
2. Players will then pm me all ten answers with the goal being to get all ten right. I will check their answers and give them back how many they got right but not which specific categories were correct.
3. Players will then re-send their answers until they have achieved a perfect 10. The last player to do this will be eliminated and we will start a new round and continue until we have a winner.
4. HINTS: besides submitting your answers every round you must also pick a hint to give to an opponet. You will pick one category and that player will be told before the start of the next round the answer on that category.
5. It is to your advantage to finish quickly as those who finish in the top 50% will be given a bonus hint in a random category for the next round.
I would obviously like to have 10 (get it) but will start with 5 or more.

Let's try this. Hope it doesn't get to US-centric. _________________ Jan 21st, 2008: The pillaging continues.

| Quick clarification... When you say "last to finish" "first 50% to finish" etc. are you referring to time, or number of submissions? |

Its based on number of submissions not time. Also hints will be given to the player below you. So player number 1 dethwing gives his hint to player number 2 Lexprod. and player 10 will give his hint to player number 1 dethwing. Savvy

I don't really see that it makes that much of a difference, but randomization can't hurt. Possibly even after every set of questions, so that you are getting hints from different players through the course of the game.
One question about the process: Will we all be getting the same set of questions? Or will we see each other's questions? Since a big part of the strategy will be to try to give hints for the categories that your opponent probably already has correct, then we would need to know which of his questions were easy ones.
I assume this was too obvious to state, but just to make sure it has been stated: No research allowed, right? |

At least for the first round we will be using the same set. If it becomes a problem I can give each player different questions but I thought the fairest way was to use one set. As to the hints easy is relative. A diehard sports fan will obviously get most sport questions right away but have difficulty with art. It depends on the individual.
I like the idea of randomizing after every round but for the first round I will use the sign-up order as that is fairly random itself. Is there some history with Jennifer I am unaware of.
And yes as always NO OUTSIDE RESEARCH!!!
I will post the first set of questions late tonight. please send me your answers and the category you want to use as your hint to your opponent by Friday. _________________ The Classic Blunders:

Well, the point of randomizing is to make it so I am not giving hints to Jennifer (who lives with me...)
Both of us will playing from work and we won't give each other answers. |

You wont get the first hint until submission 2 but you need to send it with the 1st submissions. For submission 1 you will be flying blind and I am willing to abide by MattVs word as I have to trust all of you to not do research anyway.

well these are pre-set questions from a U.S. board game. But to be fair at least half are not U.S. questions and only 2 require a great deal of U.S knowledge. _________________ The Classic Blunders:

And after only 2 rounds we have our first Perfect 10! Congratulations........ Zag! You are free from the burden of submitting answers and have earned yourself a free hint next round (only 4 of those left). However I will still need you to send in hints for Scurra. You can choose to try and help him or hinder him its your choice. Other than that there wasn't a lot of movement.
NOTE Groza's hint this round was chosen by me at random as I did not get a submission from jesternl. He may still submit for both round 2 and round 3 but he will not recieve the next hint until I get the 2nd submission.
SCORES
Zag: 10/10 (qualified with hint)
Scurra: 8/10
Dethwing: 7/10,
Jesternl: 7/10
Groza528: 7/10
Lexprod: 7/10
Amb: 6/10
Jennifer: 6/10
MattV: 5/10
Referee: 4/10
Hints will be going out soon. Submissions are due next Tues. I will be out of town until then so I will be unavailable to answer questions. If you can not meet the deadline simply request an extension, Goodluck! _________________ The Classic Blunders:
