Are you referring to my comment? I meant to make that public. My point was that, although I did have 8 questions that I was pretty sure of, correctly guessing the other two in only 2 tries is just dumb luck.

Submission 4

For the first time in 2 updates we have no perfect 10's but several of you are very close. With 4 hints even some of you at the back of the pack can use logic to get that perfect 10. Also Amb has officially dropped out and if I don't hear from jesternl I will be DQing him as well. However we will still have an elimination so the pressure just got increased. Make sure you are not the last one in.

So on to the scores....

Zag: 10/10 (qualified with hint)
Scurra: 10/10 (qualified with hint)
Groza528: 8/10
Dethwing: 8/10,
Jennifer: 8/10
Jesternl: 7/10
MattV: 7/10
Lexprod: 6/10
Referee: 6/10

Hints going out soon. Next Submission due Monday.

UPDATE

I have heard from jesternl and he has also had to drop out. Also I am embarresed to say I messed up on lexprods scores so I have fixed that and have given him an extra hint to make up for that. (GEO so dethwing knows not to send that.) I will be double checking everyone's scores later today. to avoid this situation in the future please submit the answers to the questions not just the letter choices. Sorry again. Submission 5

Wow the scores explode Jennifer snags the third Perfect 10 and the Third free hint after spending most of the round in the back of the pack. And two of you were only one away. As we are nearing the end of round 1. I realize we are liable to have a tie either for the last 2 free hints or the elimination. In case I havent posted it elsewhere the official procedure for a tie breaker is the score for the previous submission. (This prevents someone who has struggled all game from beating someone by pure luck.) So If you want to stay in the game you need to go back over your answers and see if you can logically deduce the answer. I will send out hints late tonight I still need Ref's hint to MattV. Also MattV you no longer need to send in hints but please send in your answers and not just the letter it easier for me to grade. Anyway on to the scores....

Zag: 10/10
Scurra: 10/10
Jennifer: 10/10
Groza528: 9/10
Lexprod: 9/10
Dethwing: 7/10,
Referee: 6/10
MattV: 5/10

Next Submission Due Fri. Night. There are only 5 of you so I feel we can move at a quicker pace.

Submission 7

I have only recieved 2 submissions but due to tiebreakers we have our first eliminated player. Both dethwing and MatthewV have achieved a perfect 10. So we must bid a fond farewell to referee. Thanks for playing ref. I will be posting the answers to all 10 questions shortly. Look for round 2 to start later tonight, complete with 10 new questions and a new hint order. Stay Tuned.

I queried that one as well - I thought they were called Sami not Lapp(a)s.
(Indeed, on doing some searching, this site: http://boreale.konto.itv.se/samieng.htm says that "Lapp" is considered to be a derogatory term. I think this is one of those things like Inuit/Eskimo/whatever that may depend upon where and when your reference is from.)

I apparently misspelled the answer on the question post. The answer is indeed Lapps (no 2nd a). Another mistake in round filled with mod errors to which I apologize. I have a new checking system that should eliminate these mistakes. Please remember to submit the actual answers this round as it will assist me in getting these done faster. Anyway according to the wikipedia article on the Sami people they are indeed refered to as Lapps. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sami_people

Also someone pointed out that in golf there are sand saves and saves for par. For this round I have hand chosen the questions from several sets and am checking their accuracy as I type so the next post should be the next set of questions.

I meant to send out the free hints before submission 1 however the last two weeks have been very busy for me so by the time I got around to doing it I already had several submissions. So those of you who have free hints coming will be pmed those with your sub1 hints. I used a random number generator to determine which category you guys would receive and this round it will be...ART. Next round I intend to send out the free hints before I put the questions up. I am getting ready to grade your submissions so results and hints will go out soon.
