General Rules:
0. Have fun, and don't be a jerk.
1. Please don't flake; if you are unable to continue in the game, let me know so that a replacement can be found.
2. Don't edit/delete your posts.
3. No invisible text or extraneous formatting tags. No cryptography.
4. When you're dead, you're dead. Don't post anything game-relevant. There will be a quicktopic for the dead to discuss the game until it finishes.
5. No talking outside the thread, unless your role allows it.
6. No talking in the thread at night, even if the mod forgets to close it.
7. Do not quote the moderator. This includes role PMs.
8. If you are modkilled for breaking these rules, you lose.
9. There is no Forum Rule 9.
Game Rules:
a. Votes should be in the following format: Vote: Player. Unambiguous misspellings will be counted as if they were correct. Unvotes should likewise be bolded. You are not required to unvote to switch your vote (but it is recommended for ease of reading).
b. Days will last a maximum of two weeks. If no one has reached a majority by the deadline, whoever has the most votes will be lynched. If there is a tie, no one will be lynched.
c. Nights will last a minimum of 48 hours, and a maximum of 72 hours.
d. Players not posting regularly will be prodded/replaced as necessary. Please try to post frequently.
Sample Role PM:
| Quote: |
Name: Solver
Alignment: Innocent
Background: What have you been up to the past ten years? How should I know? You should visit more, I don't have time to stalk everyone.
Ability: You are an Innocent Townsperson, and have no ability other than your vote.
Win Condition: You win when all the threats to the Innocent are dead.
Please confirm your participation by replying to this PM. The game will begin Friday. |
All role names in this game are past or current GL members. Apart from this flavor, the roles and mechanics are "normal" (see, for example, this proposal).

In the beginning, there was Chuck. And his dog.
Some time later, a Labyrinth was built. Chuck, in his infinitely prolonged wisdom, saw that this would inevitably lead to a forum for his wit, which was sorely lacking before the appearance of the universe. A forum, not his wit. Presumably.
Unfortunately, Chuck was too distracted by amusement at his future commentary to see a bit further along his timeline. Had he seen his death, however, he probably would have done nothing to prevent it. For one thing, everyone knows that that sort of thing just leads to becoming your own grandmother, or killing yourself, and that's not something Chuck could live with. For another, it's Steak Day, and, inevitable death or no, Chuck is out of steak.
As Chuck steps up to the counter at the butcher's, his thoughts are on a clever food-related cartoon read earlier in the paper, which he has decided to tack up on a wall of the Labyrinth at the earliest opportunity. He is thus not as observant of his surroundings as one pulling for his safe return to home and grill might hope, and completely misses the tell-tale signs of an evil organization using the butcher's shop as a front.
In fact, he fails to realize anything is amiss until he rests his palm on the counter and the "butcher" immediately grabs his wrist and plunges a knife into the back of his hand, pinning hand to counter.
Before the cleaver finishes the job, Chuck mutters cryptic final words: "Sounds good to me. I've never been eliminated from a game before it started."
----
Next door to the butcher's shop is a mysterious portal dubbed "Meatworld", where the residents of the Labyrinth occasionally travel (some becoming lost for long periods of time). Soon after Chuck's brutal pre-game death, 15 of the Labyrinth's oldest citizens enter Meatworld together, braving the unknown to meet one another in a different light. They wear name tags, but due to a mix-up none of the name tags actually matches the identity of the wearer, and of course no one is sure what anyone else looks like beyond the portal.
The timing of Chuck's death mere hours before the "meetup" is not at all coincidental - Chuck's murderers have been waiting for 10 long years, since they first gained a tenuous foothold in the Labyrinth, to consolidate their power and take over the joint, and this first murder is meant to strike fear and break the will of their future victims. If only they had managed to finish Chuck off before he uttered those final words! Now they are bound by the rules of the "game", and this is the only thing slowing their conquest.
Will the others, shaken by news of Chuck's death as it reaches them in this unfamiliar Meatworld setting, rally together to find the scum in their midst? Or will they, like that first town so many years before, fall victim to paranoia and be picked off, one by one...?
----
Chuck (Chuck, Traditional Pre-Game Brutal Murder) has been killed. It is Day 1. With 15 alive, it will take 8 votes to lynch. |

I didn't know what I expected to find day 1 since it is been so long since I played, but it wasn't two quick votes for IS...at least not from Antrax! Has everyone give up the pick someone supposedly at random since I last played?
I'll admit I was tempted by a vote IS tee hee just for old time's sake...well and for baiting the bear, but since others have already done that, I'll let it slide and watch the reaction.
I will point a body part of suspicion at Antrax for old times sake though. Mostly because I don't remember him being one of those people who jumped on IS day one. Or was he? Darn it I can't remember anymore!
Of course, maybe Antrax is jumping on IS to see who follows him so he will then turn around vote for them instead...
Okay too much thinking this early in the morning...must wake up more.

Alas, but the meatworld has a terrible grip on me. However, I'm not one for bandwagons, so I'll point appendages of suspicion at the bandwagoners. That starts with Courk, who's vote uses the least useful logical reasoning. I'll hold my vote a little longer, though, to see if any villainous scum let slip and clues to their identity...

Good thing I only voted the once, then. And admit it, you're just jealous I'll always be remembered as the guy who voted IS first in the 10 year reunion game.

Hey, people! Here's to hoping this game is well-played, insightful, is a reason to want to get out of bed every morning, and is a game worth immortalizing in an epic poem. (Well, we can hope.) Anyway, it's good to see you all again.
If we really want to be retro, you guys could wait for IS to say something inflammatory before bandwagoning him. It shouldn't take him more than one or two posts...
A preliminary Vote: Sofis here to help get things moving. mith appears quite nostalgic in this game as well, evidenced in post #6 here mirroring post #15 of the original mafia thread. If he is nostalgic about handing out roles, Sofis is the only original mafia goon in the game. (The Master was the other, and isn't playing.) I welcome solid arguments against, as I myself would hate to be lynched based on a mod's idiosynchrasies. |

Let it be known that internet outages are the great scourge of our time.
On topic, I am not a big fan of randomly picking someone to lynch, but I suppose that's how games get started. And while I don't particularly appreciate L'lanmal's vote, voting for someone who hasn't posted yet is a relatively reasonable method.

I generally prefer some body parts to others, yes. I guess I'm a bodyist or a partsist or something, and I certainly admit flexible big toes are not high on my list.
Speaking of lists, where's mole with his? It would make things easier, though I must admit you scum are making it pretty easy so far. The next person to vote IS while trying to keep his or her post under three words will be severely scrutinized. Also beaten with a hammer. But mostly scrutinized. _________________ After years of disappointment with get rich quick schemes, I know I'm gonna get rich with this scheme. And quick! |

Hmm, so Amb wanted to be in this game and thought he wouldn't be allowed. An exception was made to let him in and now he is not posting?
IS not posting yet is also suprising, but he might be waiting for a dramatic enterence, and there are too many people voting for him already for me to want to add another just yet.
So Vote: Amb |

Soooo the great IS has spoken and voted Sofis and said someone who has not posted is his scum partner.
Now, its been a while, but I would think two mafia with sixteen players would be a very unbalanced game without some other crazy roles. Even two mafia and one serial killer seems a bit off to me. Two mafia of two might work though. So either IS is slipping (and will blame it on the phone as he could not possibly be wrong) or he might have some insider information. If there are two kills in night one, IS going to look very suspicious to me. I am going to go with IS is just blowing smoke for now.
Finger of suspicion: Alfie for being the third vote for Amb after he pointed fingers at suspicion at Antrax and Courk for bandwagoning IS.
My Amb vote will stay where it is for now. |

But I'm still a bit confused as to whether I am supposed to be L'lanmal playing with my role's nametag, or if I'm my rolename playing with the name tag "L'lanmal". |
