I'll accept the first 11 entries. To enter, send me a PM with the make and model of the new, 2010 passenger vehicle you choose to buy. (No, you can't buy a fire truck, nor the vehicle that used to carry the space shuttles out to the launch pad.) They have to be actual manufactured vehicles which are generally for sale, not concept cars that are only available at auto shows.

You must also send me a link (or links) that give the following three data points. If you can't find this info on the web somewhere that seems more reliable than your own Facebook page, the choose a different car.

List price (MSRP) You can use the starting MSRP, or completely configure a car using the manufacturer's web tools, and give me that one. However, this is only valid if you can give me a link to the configured car.

Miles per gallon, city

Engine size (liters, cc, or C.I.D. I'll convert.)

-------------

I will take the three sets of data points and sort the entries by each one. For each sorting arrangement, points will be distributed this way:

Code:

        Position   Points
Highest     1        3
            2        1
            3        0
            4        1
            5        2
            6        5
            7        2
            8        1
            9        0
           10        1
Lowest     11        3

So, your car might be 4th when sorted by price, 9th when sorted by engine size, and 7th when sorted by MPG, so you will get a total of 3 points (1 point for your 4th place and 2 points for your 7th place).

If there are ties in the sorting, the points for those positions will be divided equally. So, if three people tie for highest MPG, then each will get 4/3 points for that category. So the strategy is either to be at one end or the other, or right in the middle. Of course, that precious spot is strongly determined by which way other people try to go.

Most points wins!

11 entries? That's ridiculous. It's not even funny.

Eh? I'm not sure I understand your point. Most of these single entry games have no trouble getting 10 entries, but I wanted an odd number.

Anyway, also received from MattV.

Not to be pedantic, but could you please clarify "passenger vehicle?" at least a little bit more?

Does that mean driver + at least one passenger?
Does it have to be a car or truck (no motorcycles, scooters, amphibious boats, etc)?

Hmmm. I have to say that I was thinking just car or pick-up truck, but I suppose motorcycles would have to be included, as well. Something that you could by at a dealer who sells such things, isn't built for a specific purpose (i.e. not a dump truck, fire engine, or semi-trailer tractor), and that you would realistically drive on the highway (so not a scooter).

How's that? If this changes anyone's submission who has already sent one in, that's ok. Just send a new submission before I reach 11.

Is there some joke I'm not getting?

Anyway, entries received from jbvntx and HyToFry, making 5 so far.

Jaguar, maybe you'd like to buy a car, perhaps something British?

In Utah (at least) a passenger vehicle would be any Class D vehicle.

Apparently the same is true of Tennessee based on a quick Google search of class d

This is true in most states. I've dealt with vehicle titles from most of them.

That's six entries so far. I'm a little surprised it has taken this long; these games usually fill up quickly.

Anyway, we've passed the halfway point. Pick your favorite new auto and jump in!!

No, I wasn't offended. I was pretty sure it was a joking reference to something I didn't recognize. I'm way harder to offend than that. (Not that you should try, now.)

Ooh. I guess it could've been interpreted that way.

LOL

I meant that I entered so that there would be a winner, as opposed to the game just dying. I didn't mean that I would be the winner.

Just declare T.H. the winner. I don't care if he meant it that way; it's a lot funnier to read it that way.

Results!! Congrats to HyToFry (a.k.a. Chaz)!

We only had 10 )entries, so I added one. I put mine in first, but I had glanced at all the entries when I received them, so I can't quite claim complete lack of knowledge. In any case, I just picked my wife's car, but without the wheelchair modifications (which are another $25,000). I was going to choose my car, but it's a Saturn so there are no 2010 models.

Sentran managed to score a zero, which is quite a feat! There are only 2 zero positions on each scoring, so you only have a 18% chance to get a zero in one column, and only a 0.6% chance of getting one in all three! Well done!

Code:

Rank  Person     MPG Points    Engine Points     Price Points    Total Points
1     HyToFry        3.5           5                 2           10.5
2     Lexprod        1             1                 5            7

Thanks for the results. So a Chevy Impala beats a Lamborghini Murcielago? I thought that only happened on Top Gear!

Was that the longest shortest game in GL history?

I thought about the Lamborghini at first and then went with the Bugatti Veyron. I was thinking least fuel efficient and see I wasn't the only one. I should have added the Super Sport, but wasn't thinking about that Cannibal

I'm surprised the fuel economy of the SS is the same as the regular Veyron given it's extra power. I had hoped to be superlative in all categories, but hoping no-one went for the Dodge Viper, with it's 8.4l V10!

This is officially the best I've ever done in a single-submit, so color me surprised!

Silly me, not thinking of crazy cars like the volt or tesla (though i guess the volt is still not out yet). I was shooting for high-low-middle, and I guess getting exact middle was almost enough to take it ! Extreme Delectation

Honestly, I Googled "Full Size Car" clicked the first link (a wiki article) scrolled down to "recent full size cars" and picked the one that was sticking out. I figured if Google thought it was average, then it probably is.
