I'm a huge fan of three things.

Being "Right", Paradoxes, and Absolutes.

When these three things can be combined into one statement, I'm an uber fan.

Some examples:

Nothing is absolute.
In order for this to be true, it has to be false.
This creates a paradox which just further proves the original point.

Everything has exceptions.
For this to be true, it has to be the exception to itself... which, again, further proves the point.

Essentially... these two statements say the same thing, so I'd like to see some more absolute statements which are further proved when you try to defeat them.

"Never say never." That's a perfect one.

Could we switch it to "Nothing is true." ? Then it would be exactly what I'm looking for.

Hmmmm.... I like where you're going with that, but it needs more.

It currently defeats itself without further proving itself... I think... It needs... something French...

Oh.... it needs to be absolute too. =D

=D That's closer than Jack_Ian's, but still the "I told you so" element is undefined.

DPW, your's is perfect.

I thought of two new ones.

Question Everything.

You disagree with everything I say. or, to a bigger audience, Someone will disagree with everything I say.

I'm a huge fan of that, mole, in fact I once set it as my FB Status... Something along the lines of:

"Obi Wan said, 'only the Sith deal in absolutes.'... Does that mean Obi Wan was a Sith?" However... to argue with his point does not *prove* his point, so I felt it had to be left out of this particular thread. While it meets the criteria of paradox and absolute, it fails to meet the criteria of being "right."

Death Mage... your white box goes right over hy's head.

That may be... but it's not absolute.

You could switch it to "All sentences are false." but that's really just another way of saying "Nothing is true."

How about...
"Nothing I say will meet your criteria."

Then I really can't disagree with it without proving its point.

How about "Your always correcting me."
More along the baiting theme... "this sentence will make everyone want to disagree with it."

But you can agree with it without creating a paradox. I'm still not sure I get what your looking for.

OK, I'll try again.

Hmmm... I'm not even sure anymore.

I thought it just had to be absolute, and paradoxically strengthened by defeat, but Zag's last post makes me wonder.

Logain's post certainly follows my criteria, and it's exactly what I'm looking for.

Your sentance, "This sentence does not exist and so can't be entered" can be defeated with the argument "it does exist, since you did type it."

I can disagree with your point, and I can support my argument; I cannot disagree with Logain's post, because doing so would prove his point.

Zag's picture doesn't fit my criteria at all, but it's a whole different kind of brilliance that is equally effective for my purposes. I cannot disagree with the sign without confessing that I've broken the law.

Hmmm.... Logain's last post is interesting.

I can instantly disprove it by simply commenting on it... But, in a round-about way, I wouldn't be listening to Logain... it doesn't quite create the paradox, but the fact that it doesn't does.

My brain hurts a little now.
