Hey gang, I've come up with a 5-submission game that's a bit deal or no deal, a bit how much is enough. It's based on the UK gameshow "The Colour of Money," in which one player chooses from 20 colored cash machines. Each machine is set to a certain "stop" value, randomly assigned, and the player watches as the cash machine releases money in thousand dollar intervals, hoping to shout STOP before the machine stops itself. The goal being to get as much cash as possible but not bust by having the machine stop, losing the cash.

Here's the details on my version:

There are 4 players and 25 cash machines. Each cash machine has an amount from $1000 to $15,000 (with one each of 1-3, and 12-15, three 8s, and 2 of all the others. See the diagram), randomly distributed by me (you can trust me ^_^).

Each round players will claim one machine in-thread by it's color: first-come first-served. Players also will send me a private message with what number they'd like to stop the machine on, and another player to target (more on this below).

Once all 5 players have picked their machines and stop values, I will "run" the machines.

If your stop value is below the cash machine's stop amount, you get the amount you stopped at.

If your stop value is above the cash machine's stop amount, the machine breaks and you get no cash.

If your stop value is EXACTLY the cash machine's stop amount, you get to take the amount you stopped at from the player you targeted in your PM. Yes you may send players into the negative.

The results of each machine's run is shown in-thread, as well as what the max amounts each machine had, though who everyone targeted each round is only revealed if someone actually gets to steal points.

This is done for 5 rounds, which means in the end 5 machines will not be used. Most cash wins!

Anyone game?

4. MatthewV
5. Puzzle Scot

How you guys feel about a 3-player game? I'd scale it obviously, but still 5 rounds.

Er, I suppose I should clarify, the machines get picked one round at a time, and the scoreboards are updated as such. Technically since you can't determine value of one machine over the other it doesn't matter as far as claiming machines, but I'm gonna have my own set of 30 color options with randomized values attached, rather than you guys naming whatever color comes to mind XD.

I do appreciate the enthusiasm though!

Either waiting for the game to start, or submitting a meaningless post with five random colors (up to two of which can be "rose.")

Your choice. Revenge most foul!

Oh. Haha. You submitted the original post with rose twice. Now it just looks like I'm making fun of you... which I was, but I didn't know it was you I was making fun of--just that someone had submitted a post with "rose" twice, and then lex informed us not to choose colors. Ecstatic Happiness

Mk, sab's not been on the gl since november...so I'm gonna start this thing with the 4 of you instead, since you're all eager to go.

So with 4 players I'll use 25 machines, and the cash distribution is gonna be not as even. You'll see once I shuffle the machines and post the image. Just make sure you ask any questions before you send your first turn.

So here it is, the big Colour of Money Money Board ...of SCIENCE!

The Board will keep track of which colors and money amounts are still in play, as well as everyone's current money totals. I have shuffled the money amounts into the machines using random.org. Remember: the colors are simply for flavor and a way to tell them apart, not any reflection on how much or little money they contain. Also as you can see now there aren't an even amount of each value of money, I've given it a slight bias towards the center values, so keep that in mind.

With that said, Round One is open! First-come first-served for what color you would like, then PM me the value you'd like to stop that machine at (as well as who you'd like to target, should you be dead on).

Good luck!

Alright all moves are in, time to light this candle!

First up is PuzzleScot who steps up to the Salmon machine. It starts counting up...
$1000....
$2000....
$3000...
$4000...
$5000...
$6000...BZZZT!

The machine maxed out at 6k and Scot was hoping for more! No score for him.

Next up is bgg1996 who goes for red, the color of passion. I'll start the machine...
$1000...
$2000...
$3000...
$4000...
$5000...
BZZZT!

The machine breaks at only 5k, and bgg was aiming for more. Still no money on the board. MatthewV tries his luck with the Mildew machine...

$1000...
$2000...
$3000...
$4000...
$5000...
$6000...
$7000...STOP!

Matt becomes the first player with cash on the board, scoring a cool 7k. Now let's see how much that machine had in it....

....BZZT!

A perfect call! Since Matthew stopped at 7k on a 7k machine, he gets to take his cash from another player, and as decided by the dice roll, he chose PuzzleScot. Ouch, he's now in the hole $7000.

Chaz steps up to the plate last, picking Lime from what's left.

$1000...
$2000...
$3000...
$4000...
$5000...
$6000...
$7000...
$8000...
$9000.....
$10,000...
$11,000...
$12,000.......BZZZT!

The Machine taps out at 12k, and it looks like Chaz was aiming higher than a dozen.

With that the first round is over, here's the standings:

Round 2 begins, claim your machine and PM your amounts and targets.

To start off the next round Chaz confidently strolls up to the Clover machine...only to find MatthewV has started it already for himself.

$1000...
$2000...
$3000...
$4000...
$5000...
$6000...
$7000...
$8000...STOP!

As MatthewV scoops up a few more armfuls of cash from the machine, let's see how far it could've gone.

$9000.....BZZT!

Well played, just 1k short of the max. Hy, frustrated, turns to go to the yellow machine. Once again, he finds someone else already using it, bgg1996 watching the numbers climb.

$1000...
$2000...
$3000...BZZZT!

Ouch, stuck with a low machine when he was obviously looking for more, bgg1996 scores naught again. This time Chaz decides to look over the room and find a machine that is not in use, spotting the Honeydew machine. Right before he steps up to it though, PuzzleScot runs up and licks the start button. "MINE!" Elbowing Hy out of the way, Scot starts the machine.

$1000...
$2000...
$3000...
$4000...
$5000.....BZZT!

Another goose egg for Scot, who was hoping for more than a nickel. Thoroughly irritated, Chaz just slams START on the next button he sees, in this case the Gold machine.

$1000...
$2000...
$3000...
$4000...
$5000...
$6000...
$7000...
$8000.....BZZZZT!

And just like that we have a repeat of last round. Here's the current standings...

MatthewV may have a strong lead, but as you can see much of the lower amounts are already gone. Round 3 is ready when you are, but please remember to claim your machine in the thread Revenge most foul!
