I can get rid of the one that shows up on the toolbar when I'm not paying attention and they sneak it in. But now the search bar is to the right of where the URL is for the website I'm visiting. Anyone know how to get rid of it?
It's not in addons, add/remove, or toolbar.

HjT helps those who help themselves, in a way. Sometimes it's easier to just google something like this:
https://encrypted.google.com/search?q=remove+ask+toolbar
The first hit seems relevant.

These Google hits often have the specific registry edits or specialized tools - they're not the Windows FAQs. HjT is an excellent tool but you could fuck your computer up if you don't know what you're doing.

You didn't actually say what browser you're using.

In Chrome, I would look in Tools/Extensions, the Task Manager, and Options/Basics/Manage Search Engines.

I forget what Firefox calls them, but I know it has two types: both plug-ins and something else, and I always have to hunt around for it.

If you're using IE, then the answer is to stop doing that and get a real browser.

Screw you, I checked the 1s and 0s in my IE and they're authentic.

If you're using firefox, it could be as simple as right-clicking someone on the menus and choosing "customize".

Google doesn't sort hits the same for everyone. (so what you see first, others might not)

It's firefox. I'd already tried everything suggested. I'd post a pic of where it is but I lost my password to GLPICS and it's being gay about resetting (validates but doesn't send an email to login).

Edit: Interesting that I used I'd (I had) and I'd (I would) consecutively.
