I imagine someone here works with or knows how to use BIDS. I am have a baffling issue.
I created a test report and wanted to put it on the server on my machine. So I hit build, then deploy. It asked me for login/password which I don't recall having to do in class. After I enter it and hit ok the login screen just pops up again. It doesn't do anything.
I have admin rights on my computer and the server.
I have the server agent running.
It doesn't give me an error so I know I have the right URL and port. http//localhost:80/reportserver
It's 2008 SP1
I can't connect to http://localhost/reports in my browser and a ping fails.
I have scoured the web and no one in my office knows anything about what I'm doing. I'm at my wits end and if someone can help me it would be a huge relief. _________________ And he lived happily ever after. Except for the dieing at the end and the heartbreak in between. |

This actually sounds very similar to an issue I recently ran into using CRM and SSRS. Programs are not what's important, it's the credentials that are mucking you up. In SSRS, I go to Manage a report, and under Data Sources there is a Connect Using criteria with the following options:
Credentials supplied by the user running the report
Credentials stored securely in the report server
Windows integrated security
Credentials are not required
Since we are running a Windows-based system, we use Windows integrated security, and the user does not have to add anything after their initial login into the system. Hope this helps. _________________ Sentran

It's true that finding helpful resources for report building is difficult, but they are out there. I seriously think this is a credentials issue. Try looking from there. _________________ Sentran

You may want to look at the event log (under administrative tools) to see if maybe the database reports some error there. If it's a credentials issue (or a certificate issue), the info about what goes wrong might be there. _________________ After years of disappointment with get rich quick schemes, I know I'm gonna get rich with this scheme. By credentials you mean on the local server? I've given myself all rights.
On Tuesday (3 day weekend) I think I'll just install it on my personal laptop and see if there are issues....since it's just a stand alone. I just have this sneaking suspicion it has something to do with being on Novell network. _________________ And he lived happily ever after. Solved. I had to have rights on the damned box the server is on vice the server. Sigh.
Unfortunately now it says "deploy failed"; more research. _________________ And he lived happily ever after. Except for the dieing at the end and the heartbreak in between. |

In Command & Conquer, the deployment would fail if you exceeded the unit limit. Try sending some of the basic soldiers to die somewhere and build again. _________________ After years of disappointment with get rich quick schemes, I know I'm gonna get rich with this scheme. And quick! |
