This thread is all about (good-natured, I hope) gloating. While I'm fully expecting Yankees fans to post here within a month or so, I'll start.

ob "In your mom" answer.

Being from outside the States (and from outside America, which despite insistence on the topic, it's not the same thing), I love the Red Sox, but I can't stand the Patriots. I sympathize with the Celtics in a "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" way, and they destroyed hockey when they started with the penalty shot shootout crap. Bottom Line: Hit and Miss. But congrats Boston.

Welcome to LA, loozah!

Lakers: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009, 2010
Sparks: 2001, 2002
Galaxy: 2002, 2005
Angels: 2002
Ducks: 2007

Five teams. Eleven titles. Eleven years. Do the math.

(I know, I know. Sparks don't count because they're women, Galaxy don't count because they're soccer, and Angels and Ducks don't count because they're Anaheim. And I'm sure you can come up with a reason why the Lakers don't count, either.)

Hurricanes: 2006

Unh, Carolina, wut. We have more Stanley Cups in the past 17 years than all Canadian hockey teams combined.

Oh, I'm fine with Angels and Ducks; and, of course, the Lakers count. But let's stay in this millennium, shall we?

Lakers: 2001, 2002, 2009, 2010
Angels: 2002
Ducks: 2007

Looks like 6 to me.

Gloating doesn't apply only to major sports teams:

My husband and I both just got raises at work (we work at the same company), and now I make more than he does. Revenge most foul! Before this, we made the same amount.

(He's fine with this, and its really not a big deal overall, but as Zag said, a little good natured gloating is good times.)

What Pablo failed to mention is that he's about 8,000 years old, so its hard to enjoy that sort of thing anyway. Wink

That is pretty awesome. But really, I am 27 and the VP of a company where I work with my best friend, my husband and a few other good friends. Having to work isn t the best thing ever, but I can t say as I have it that badly (not to mention that as the VP I pretty much decide how the company runs, which is sweet.)

Seriously, that's awesome! I hope you continue to have a career as rewarding as mine has been and I hope you get to retire when you choose, on your own terms. I worked for 44 years before the time was right for me. Evidently, I graduated college at age 7,056. Felicitous

7,056 + 44 != 8,000, and that's because you don't draw blanks. Razz

OTOH, j_s has it very nicely, congrats!

We have 5 ten week terms a year with only 2 weeks off. It is an accelerated profssional program. I teach general education classes. That means this term was lots of math and next term is writing and computer applications (office and internet) as well as the personal development classes. I love my career, but I could do with out having to grade things.

Ok so 2-2...still not bad though. I still think that, as long as they can avoid injuries, the Indians will at least make the playoffs next season.
