Invention: Puzzlelabyrinth
Target: Lexprod
Description: The firer of this weapon must make a puzzle with an answer. The target person must solve the puzzle (or attempt to): If they solve it correctly, they may pick a person whose team to learn (via the mods/PM) - If they fail to do so (within 3 days) then they will change teams randomly. The puzzle can be as hard or as easy as Lexprod wants |

Recipients: bgg, Amb, Lexprod, ralphmerridew,Jesus_Saves
Name: Match Maker V.095
Description: A novelty item that requires two players (the user and one other person) to hold the mould-a-grip hands protuding from it. If both players belong to the same team, the item will emit a bright red glow. On the chance they're on different teams, nothing will happen. The result is public. As this is an experimental unit, there's a 20% chance that it will give a false result. |

groza and I have discussed, and we have made several changes to some of the inventions. They are in bold below.
3iff
* ralphmerridew's Solar-Powered Dictionary (44): Enables the user to spell "quisling" correctly.
* MatthewV's SPAMALOT (47): If the user uses SPAMALOT in a post with at least 200 words, the device will announce the name of a random player besides the user and (via mod PM) privately, and with 80% accuracy, tell the user whether or not the target is on the same team as the user.
Amb
* bgg1996's Awesome-0-Tron (36): When used, becomes an Awesome-Token in the user's possession, which can be used at any time to negate the effect of one other invention that affects them, turning into Awesome-Dust.
* 3iff's Match Maker V.095 (43): With 80% accuracy, glows red if the user and the target are on the same team, and does nothing otherwise.
* ralphmerridew's Pistol Leaper (44): User may attempt to declare victory.
* MatthewV's SPAMALOT (47): If the user uses SPAMALOT in a post with at least 200 words, the device will announce the name of a random player besides the user and (via mod PM) privately, and with 80% accuracy, tell the user whether or not the target is on the same team as the user.
bgg1996
* 3iff's Match Maker V.095 (43): With 80% accuracy, glows red if the user and the target are on the same team, and does nothing otherwise.
* ralphmerridew's SAT Preparatory Brain Implant (44): Allows the user to revise the description of one of his/her inventions after release, subject to moderator approval, before it has been used.
* MatthewV's SPAMALOT (47): If the user uses SPAMALOT in a post with at least 200 words, the device will announce the name of a random player besides the user and (via mod PM) privately, and with 80% accuracy, tell the user whether or not the target is on the same team as the user.
* Amb's Cheeky Bugger 2000 (50): Target player must use target invention in his queue, selecting any targets if necessary, before being allowed to do anything else.
jesus_saves
* Amb's BiblebasherGun (35): Target's next invention must include a Bible verse in the name, and have a function derived from that verse; otherwise, the target must announce their own team publicly.
* 3iff's Match Maker V.095 (43): With 80% accuracy, glows red if the user and the target are on the same team, and does nothing otherwise.
* ralphmerridew's Portable Lobachevsky Cable (44): Change the inventor of one device in any queue by the user to any player. Both device and new inventor are selected by the user; this may not result in one queue having two inventions from the same inventor.
* MatthewV's SPAMALOT (47): If the user uses SPAMALOT in a post with at least 200 words, the device will announce the name of a random player besides the user and (via mod PM) privately, and with 80% accuracy, tell the user whether or not the target is on the same team as the user.
lexprod
* Amb's Puzzlelabyrinth (41): User posts a puzzle with an answer, and selects a target. If the target solves the puzzle correctly, the target may PM the mods to learn the team of any single player; if the target fails to solve the puzzle within 72 hours, then the target will switch randomly to another team in the game.
* 3iff's Match Maker V.095 (43): With 80% accuracy, glows red if the user and the target are on the same team, and does nothing otherwise.
* ralphmerridew's Gastonce Generator (44): Transfer a random device in the target's queue to its inventor.
* MatthewV's SPAMALOT (47): If the user uses SPAMALOT in a post with at least 200 words, the device will announce the name of a random player besides the user and (via mod PM) privately, and with 80% accuracy, tell the user whether or not the target is on the same team as the user.
* bgg1996's Grappler (51): Steals one random invention from the target player and gives it to the user. After use, anybody in the game may repair the Grappler, adding it to the back of their queue, by sacrificing their first two inventions.
MatthewV
* 3iff's Trigger Finger (39): Causes a random invention in the target's queue to spontaneously activate, choosing random targets if necessary. If target's queue is empty. then another target is randomly chosen.
* ralphmerridew's Forte Triple Agent (44): The user exchanges teams with one other player. The user may publicly announce the target ("Exchange with Fred"), or may place underscores where the target name would go and send a PM to the mods their target. The user and target will be notified what team they are now on via mod PM, even if they were already on the same team.
* bgg1996's Switch3r00 (51): The user may manipulate the order of his invention queue.
ralphmerridew
* Scurra's The Unspeakable (40): The next time an invention would otherwise force the target player to say his team's full name, the target player has the option of not doing so. If the target player chooses to say the full team name anyway, then the curse of The Unspeakable causes the next 5 inventions the player uses to have a 50% chance of doing nothing.
* 3iff's Match Maker V.095 (43): With 80% accuracy, glows red if the user and the target are on the same team, and does nothing otherwise.
* MatthewV's SPAMALOT (47): If the user uses SPAMALOT in a post with at least 200 words, the device will announce the name of a random player besides the user and (via mod PM) privately, and with 80% accuracy, tell the user whether or not the target is on the same team as the user.
* bgg1996's Time Bomb (51): Steal three random inventions. Does nothing if used within 48 hours of reaching the front of the owner's queue.
Scurra
* 3iff's Sauron's Eye (42): When used, will publicly identify one randomly selected player NOT on the same team as the user.
* ralphmerridew's Subliminal Advertisement (44): Targets one player selected by user. Whenever the target attempts to discard two consecutive inventions, there is a 10% chance the second invention will go off anyway. Wears off after target has used one invention from every other player, or has used 14 inventions.
MatthewV's SPAMALOT (47): If the user uses SPAMALOT in a post with at least 200 words, the device will announce the name of a random player besides the user and (via mod PM) privately, and with 80% accuracy, tell the user whether or not the target is on the same team as the user.
* Amb's AntiPercentage Device (49): Change a device with a %age success rate less than 100 to 100%. You target an existing invention that has not yet been used. It does not have to be in your own possession.
In the next post, I will adjudicate the results of the inventions that have already been used. _________________ My logic puzzle blog |

Anybody who would want to be associated with the term "quisling" creeps me out. Have you thought about what that guy did? He invited the Nazis to invade his country!! There's a reason why his name is so badly poisoned. Wanting that sort of treachery associated with yourself ... ICK!
You seem somewhat offended by my gift. I will remind you that I created custom inventions for each player. You and MatthewV gave out lots of inventions, but duplicated most of them. I made up something different for each player, and also, I made an invention which I carefully crafted especially for you. I am quite curious to see what you've cooked in response.
Geez, 200 words. That's an annoying amount of blather to write. Does it really improve the game to put up all that garbage? Surely this is enough that I can Use SPAMALOT. Or is mathgrant going to insist that I coredump enough to fill that arbitrary number count? It really is an obnoxious weapon. Perhaps I should keep going on and on, like when Milli Vanilli's record started skipping, just to be on the safe side. Hurry, hurry, step right up. Knock over the three bottles with one baseball and win the prize of your choice. Win a stuffed animal for your kid! Okay, that ought to be plenty. |

I assume that means the randomly selected target is bgg1996.

So do quotes count toward the 200 word count? They should, and I amd doing so. I used my awesomeness already I did. The token can sit there for a while longer.
I will use the Match Maker on Ralphmerridew. The pistol is great, but it's stuck at the front of my queue. Can someone invent something that must be used first that will drop it down? Small backfires are good. |

Invention: The rm-omatic
Target: ralphmerridew
Usage: Allows ralphmerridew to select any player who has used the incorrect casing of his name somewhere in thread, and change their team to his team. (The correct casing, which I just stuffed up in my prior post, is all lower case). If the target has never cased the name wrongly, then it will have no effect. |

Not in the least...In game terms it doesn't appear useful but I'm happy to receive it.
I have a whole stack of items already invented and lots of players will get individual items.
As for the quisling/quizling, I realise some might find it in bad taste...perhaps I'll get it changed when I think of something better.
I hope we can play without personal comments getting in the way? |

I wish to use the Spamalot. I trust this post will meet the 200 word requirement.
Recipient: Amb
Name: Quantum Fluctuation raygun Mk1
Description: This fearsome weapon secretly targets another invention (select via PM to mod). When that invention is used, it targets the user of this gun (via quantum tunnelling) rather than the intended target. If the target device is aimed at multiple players, all the targets are switched to the raygun user instead. Only the raygun user will know of this change.
Recipient: MatthewV
Name: "Bathtime" Rubber Duck
Description: An adorable rubber duck, ideal for long luxurious baths. If this is used, the user is blocked from posting for 24 hours. If they instead reject the duck, they must also discard the next item in their invention queue.
Recipient: ralphmerridew
Name: Giant Splodge Gun
Description: Causes massive damage to the next person (not necessarily those playing the game) who mistypes "ralphmerridew". May NOT be used on the inventor.
Recipient: bgg
Name: Genuine imitation horsehair false beard
Description: When worn, the next team alignment interrogation on the wearer will give a false result. User continues wearing the beard until such a check is made, at which point it disintegrates. |

Recipient: Amb
Name: W4s-I-Cl0s3?
Description: The W4s-I-Cl0s3? (privately) tells you the point value of the last victory/defeat attempt. You get one point for each correct member, and one point for guessing the correct team. _________________ The one member below 18 |

Here is our ruling on the rm-omatic. First off, the function is hereby re-written as follows:
* Amb's rm-omatic (61): User may target any player, citing a post in which the target spells the user's screen name with incorrect casing. Target's team name is changed to the user's team name.
Secondly, groza and I hereby declare this rules addendum: if you believe to be the only member of your team, you can declare victory without using an invention, just as you're able to do if you believe all of the players are on one team.
3iff uses the solar-powered dictionary.
Amb's victory attempt fails because he didn't specify his team's name. Amb may not claim victory again until someone else fails to claim victory.
Amb's SPAMALOT says, "lexprod, lexprod, lexprod, lexprod, lexprod, lexprod, baked beans, lexprod, lexprod, lexprod, and lexprod." (What are the odds that it would randomly target the person Amb wanted to target?)
3iff's SPAMALOT says, "Lobster Thermidor aux crevettes with a Mornay sauce, served in a Provençale manner with shallots and aubergines, garnished with truffle pate, brandy and a fried egg on top and lexprod."
3iff's inventions are added to the queues, with these modifications:
Amb
* 3iff's Quantum Fluctuation Raygun Mk1 (68): This fearsome weapon secretly targets another invention (select via PM to mod). When that invention is used, all targets are changed to be the user of Quantum Fluctuation Raygun Mk1. (I changed it so that everyone in the game knows this happened.)
MatthewV
* 3iff's "Bathtime" Rubber Duck (68): The user is blocked from posting for 24 hours. (I removed the clause that discarding the item has an effect; inventions only have effects when used.)
ralphmerridew
* 3iff's Giant Splodge Gun (68): Causes massive red paintball splotches to the next person (not necessarily those playing the game) who mistypes "ralphmerridew".
bgg1996
* 3iff's Genuine imitation horsehair false beard (68): The next team alignment interrogation on the wearer will fail to give a result.
Scurra uses Sauron's Eye. Sauron announces that lexprod is not a teammate of Scurra.
Scurra uses Subliminal Advertisement on MatthewV.
Scurra uses cleverness to activate SPAMALOT. The SPAMALOT says "3iff'", because the moderator got tired of Monty Python references.
lexprod's queue is scrambled into this order:
* ralphmerridew's Gastonce Generator (44): Transfer a random device in the target's queue to its inventor.
* bgg1996's Grappler (51): Steals one random invention from the target player and gives it to the user. After use, anybody in the game may repair the Grappler, adding it to the back of their queue, by sacrificing their first two inventions.
* MatthewV's SPAMALOT (47): If the user uses SPAMALOT in a post with at least 200 words, the device will announce the name of a random player besides the user and (via mod PM) privately, and with 80% accuracy, tell the user whether or not the target is on the same team as the user.
Amb deploys Quantum Fluctuation Raygun Mk1 via PM.
Amb receives this invention:
* bgg1996's W4s-I-Cl0s3? (76): The W4s-I-Cl0s3? (privately) tells the user, regarding the most recent victory/defeat attempt, how many of the players and teams actually belong together. (For example, if the most recent attempt was Alice, Bob, Carol, and Dave are on Team Magma, when Dave is on Team Magma and the other three are on Team Aqua, the user of W4s-I-Cl0s3? will get a value of 3, corresponding to Alice, Bob, and Carol. If Alice, Bob, and Carol are on Team Magma and Dave is on Team Aqua, then the user of W4s-I-Cl0s3? will get a value of 4, corresponding to Alice, Bob, Carol, and Team Magma.)
One more thing: There have been a few inventions that manipulate the discard mechanic. We'll let them slide for now, but the discard rule was designed to prevent players from being forced to hurt their own interests and we are prepared to meet further attempts to circumvent it with ironic consequences. _________________ My logic puzzle blog |

Recipient: 3iff
Name: Night Owl
Description: The Night Owl, if used between 12:00 AM EST and 2:00 AM EST, fetches you the undead remains of two random inventions that have already been used. Undead inventions are treated the same, ever since the famous Muggle Bureau vs. IZU (International Zombie Union) case, except that undead inventions cannot revive more undead inventions, because it might form a loop. If the Night Owl is used at a different time, it pecks out your eyeballs, watches some television, and calls you fat. _________________ The one member below 18 |

Does this also apply for declaring defeat on the single player in a team of one, or does that require an invention to do so?
