Oh, good. It's not in the integer sequence encyclopedia. Maybe I'll complete the list and add it when we're done.

The relationship is not arithmetic. It would help more to consult a history book than a math book.

Last hint, which is something of a giveaway: There are currently 44 entries in each list.

Yep. So now the second sequence should be easy, and then it's just a short hop to the first one.

Ok, after staring at it for a while, sequence 2 is number of letters in the names of the US presidents

Now need to work out the first sequence...which appears meaningless. I can't link it to sequence 2...possibly being a Brit doesn't help.

Got it...Day of birthday, 53 = Feb 22nd for Washington...and so on. which makes the next number 74...I hope.

Hooray. I actually solved a puzzle (subject to confirmation). I'm not normally very good at these.

That's it! Congrats! I had thought I might still have to give the clue that the highest value in the sequence is 364 (Andrew Johnson). What's crazy is that this was one of the ideas I had in looking at Icarus' sequence.

I missed this one (was doing the MS puzzle) but I liked the idea of this one, which was very amusing. (Although I do think that the 2 should have been more like 234 - then again, I like that one which is more than a lot of people do.)

Seems like we're looking for James Bond and the chronological order of the actors.

1 = Sean Connery
2 = David Niven
3 = George Lazenby
4 = Roger Moore
5 = Timothy Dalton
6 = Pierce Brosnan
7 = Daniel Craig

The second line contains the 2 non-Eon films.

The "2" on the second line is linked to the "7" since both are versions of "Casino Royale"

The "1" on the second line represents "Never Say Never Again". While it's not linked to anything, it possibly could be since it was a non-Eon remake of "Thunderball".

No, no, it's perfectly clear that it's not a remake of Thunderball; it just happens to have lots of elements in common. Unless you want to get sued.


(btw, that's why I said that the first Casino Royale should really have been numbered 234 because there are at least three characters who are called James Bond at some point in the film.)

That's pretty much it. I don't recall seeing the first Casono Royale (but if I did it was a long time ago). It might be better to number them 2a/2b/2c

Actually, according to IMDB, there were a host of Bonds.

True. I forgot that there is a bit where pretty much everyone is called James Bond... (Niven, Sellars and (arguably) Allen are the only ones who are called it for any sustained period of time though, iirc.)

Ahh! Never thought of him. I'd forgotten he stretched back to the sixties.
I was looking at characters like Flash Gordan and Tarzan.
Tarzan makes for an interesting sequence, especially if you take voice actors into account.
