Rules, stolen and rehacked from binary digits and then copy/pasted from the last rules game.
This game is now in progress
All rules must be posted within 72 hours of the last rule posted, or 96 if it includes a weekend. The deadline will be rounded up to the nearest hour.
I will not personally buzz anyone for tardiness, but anybody else, even non-players, may.
If there is a reason worthy of an time extension, tell me before the deadline expires. Time will also be flexible around holidays and breaks. I will try to PM a reminder when you have about 24 hours left.
Your rule must follow itself and all the previous rules in that round. Players must go in the order in which they are listed. I'll try to keep the current and next players in the thread title whenever I get a chance to update
When a player breaks a rule, they are buzzed, that player is thrown out, all rules are declared invalid, and a new round begins: the next player in line posts the new Rule #1. After 72 hours from its posting a rule is immune to new buzzes. Whether a buzz is upheld is at my discretion, although I will listen to any arguments. Play should continue as normal whilst a buzz is being argued about.
Any player may challenge the last person who posted a rule. The rulemaker must then post another rule that meets all current rules, including her own, as though it was any future rule nominated by the challenger. If she can't do it she will be buzzed, if she can then the challenger will get a warning. 2 warnings will result in a buzz.
A player who posts a rule after the invalid one, but before the invalid one is buzzed, will not be penalized. However, that player's rule (along with the previous ones) will be voided when the new round begins.
Editing or deleting any post in this thread (except this one!) will result in a buzz. Don’t do it.
Any player may ask for a plain-English interpretation of a rule, if it is reasonable to believe that it is not clear. The clock will be reset once it is provided. Failure to provide one within 72 hours will result in a buzz to the rule maker.
Please do feel free to "buzz" anyone you catch breaking a rule, even if you are not actually playing.
Ambiguous rules will be given the tougher interpretation for the rulemaker, and the lenient one for the other players. In general, though, if the intent of your rule is clear from the way you have followed it then, if valid, that interpretation will be accepted.
All rules will cease to be binding after 25 subsequent rules (i.e the 26th rule does not need to obey the 1st, although you can if you like. This enables people to use limited lists as part of their rule without immediately being challenged)
Unless prohibited by a rule your posts may be any length. You may not make a rule, however, that would force other player's rules to be less than 15 or greater than 400 words.
Rules may not force players to only post at certain times of day.
Rules may not change any of the rules in this post.
Rules must impose a restriction on yourself.
Please put only your rule in a post. Double post if you must say something beyond. Signatures are not considered part of a post.
Buzzes and warnings may also be issued for jerkish behavior but I presume that will be unnecessary.
(A request, not a rule: Please don't let your rules get bogged down by English language grammatical minutiae. It doesn't make for a fun game, for either players or mod)
This will be my first attempt at moderating this game so be kind.

That gives us 6 players. I think if we should wait until 12.00 today (UK time) to see if anyone else wants to join, then we have enough to start the game immediately rather than wait until next week.
I'll randomly order the player list before we start... |

Ok, I'll add MNOWAX to the end of the list...
Sorry for the short signup time but the alternative was waiting until the middle of next week. I seem to be running 2 games and making a bit of a mess of both of them
If Amb gets in quickly then he (she?) can also be added provided they come in before it rolls around to Carrier again. |

Buzz?
Personally, I wouldn't buzz if I were the mod, but bgg never put the rule start "Rule II" that carrier of the arch was obviously looking for. However the way cota phrased hias rule, its so nebulous that you'd have to work hard to break a litereal interpretation of it. |

I looked at that myself but rule 1 says numbers must be in Roman numeral format. It does not say that rules must be numbered.
Buzz rejected.
(BTW, if anyone objects to an interpretation of the rules that they disagree with, speak up...this IS my first mod of this game but I have moderated lots of other games) |

Oh, you will get a shit-storm with a bad call. Don't worry about it
Things that are implied but not stated don't matter. To an extent-- if you say rules must bold every other word, it is not acceptable to bold every word. Things like that are hard to deal with.
Amb is most definitely a girl man. But he is married now so it might be hard to tell. |

But now were they expensive or unnecessary* stereos, sports equipment, cameras, and power tools?
I know my definition is flawed. Which is why I turn to one of my favorite authors, Ambrose Bierce and his wonderful Devil's Dictionary.
MALE, n. A member of the unconsidered, or negligible sex. The male of the human race is commonly known (to the female) as Mere Man. The genus has two varieties: good providers and bad providers.

| I knew this was going to happen. Buzz. Rule 1 calls for "correct roman numeral form." Using lowercase letters for Roman numerals is not correct form. |

Minuscule roman numbers came into use in the Middle Ages and are currently the norm in printing page numbers in books before the main body of text begins.
By this it seems to be accepted as a correct method of roman numbering.
See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_numerals
Not to mention its use in acidemia, as the MLA format requires numbering of outlines to be done in this format

These guys also agree with itisally. http://www.daube.ch/docu/glossary/roman_numerals.html
My first thought when I read DPW's comment was that the buzz should be on bgg, then, for forcing lower case. But, of course, even if we were to consider lower case roman numerals to be incorrect, one could still write legal rules by having no numbers at all.
But I'm with itisally, I think that lower case is a correct form.
My rule coming tomorrow. |

| rule iii: rules must include a comment (preferably amusing, though that's not required) about the previous rule. the last rule said all rules must be numbered, but it didn't say they should be numbered correctly. |

why is it that rules, beginning with rule v, must be in the form of a question in a manner similar to jeopardy? also i find a rule requiring comments about other rules to be just plain silly. _________________ Sentran

And buzz because jeopardy questions are never in the form of "Why is that this?", it's always "What is that?" After the answer is stated. _________________ The one member below 18 |
