I just realized while posting in another thread that I have been signed up here for six years. I remember looking at the all the puzzles in high school ( 03-04), but i never made an account until 05.

what ate some of your favorite memories of the GL?

I'm pretty sure the purges before phbb ate quite a few GL memories. I wonder if Antrax still has those backed up somewhere.

My favorite memory is everyone in GLCentral being disrespectful and ignoring my repeated requests not to swear around me, because apparently I was too much of an intolerant fucking cunt for my request to be worth shit. Also, I was hated for being an immature teenager who wasn't good at making puzzles yet.

Now that my puzzles kick ass, I seem to be more respected in the puzzle community than I was before, to the point that people don't mind that I'm a motherfuckin' Christian or a motherfuckin' furry. Razz

[Disclaimer: in actuality I deeply regret that I have become such a vituperative person, and wish I could undo the circumstances that led to my first use of the F-bomb.]

In the context of my above post, the F-bomb refers to one of George Carlin's seven dirty words.

In many other contexts, of course, the word "furry" is just as offensive. Felicitous

GL Central was fun, and a great way to experiment with new games of mafia or apples2apples (before it became popular with yuppies). Sorry mathgrant, I think I forgot a couple times and/or didn't notice you were in the room.

As I recall, it was mostly pikachamp and i_h8_evil_stuff who put deliberate effort into swearing in my presence, for the sole purpose of offending me. I think Vegt once IMed me a link to a shirt that says G_ F_CK Y__RSELF, too. Felicitous

Mackay's alive! I may or may not miss talking to you on AIM!

Remember when we reconciled because you realized that, because I told you I was a "furry" before I told the forum, that meant I trusted you more than a lot of other people? Good times. X3

Just to make it official, though, as much as I love my furry persona and couldn't bear to part with him as an online identity, I think furry communities are effin' weird and not good. I've let people persuade me to join them before, and every time, I've decided it wasn't effin' worth it. (This includes the furry community that got me featured on Something Awful.) In short, I hate furries.

Heh, hello guys Felicitous I'm still around and read the forums regularly, I just don't post very often unless I'm arguing about something. I was just intending to drop that one post in this thread, but my ego has now been fed!

I don't really remember my thought process (that doesn't sound like it, but who knows), but I do remember that I decided to make a conscious effort to be non-judgmental about it. My most distinct memory of that entire situation is you getting me into a furry chat room to talk to furries and oh it was so awkward and uncomfortable for me that I feel awkward thinking about it even now. Embarrassed

Just got back, actually, but that visit was purely to visit the in-laws. Now that cp and I are doing a lot better financially we'll probably be back relatively soon, I'd love to check out the eastern side of the US for the first time too, so maybe we could do some visiting.

In case it wasn't obvious, I was posting that as a "favourite memory", not expressing my wishes to smush your head.

Yeah Melancholy

After four years without seeing cp's parents, we thought it best to spend the maximum possible time with them, so it was straight to Des Moines and back. I'm sure Seattle is on the cards next time we hit the States, though, and it shouldn't be nearly as long between visits this time. =)

edit:

Within six hours of me there are 25 casino poker rooms. Within a half hour, there are 6 regular tournaments and home poker games that I'm aware of, probably more..

Don't you worry, I got us covered! haha Heh, Zag needs to get up in this area too then.

The two closest to my house are within walking distance. (OK, pretty long walking distance -- about 5 miles.)
