Patriots 34
Giants 28

I want the Giants to win, but I think that the Patriots defense does just enough, and my bold prediction is that the Pat's D gets a defensive TD.

LOL. Not this year. Two of the best offenses against two of the worst defenses. This is NOT going to be a game of dominating defense.

Superbowl IX was 2 to 0 at halftime, so a 2 to 0 final score is not too improbable.

But not this time.

If Tom Brady is The Miracle Child, what does that make Manning?

You would think NE would have learned after 2007...

How did I find myself rooting for the Patriots by the end of that game?...

I'm a Ravens fan for gods' sake.

it was exciting game, but i have to say this about it.....

i was SHOCKED that this game didn't make the over on the line. i was sure they would make (i think it was) 58 points between the two of them.

I think it opened at 55 and went down to 54. In any case, that's really high line. Liking the over is one thing, but shocked that it didn't hit?

I actually enjoyed the halftime show....for a half-time show

but the commercials were great this year.

My Top 3:
3. naked M&Ms
2. fat dog/ star wars kid cameo
1. Cheetah attack

with honorable mentions for the chevvy armegeddon, twilight car, chimps, and cat killing doritto dog.

Budwiser Dog gets no mention?

I mean, it was stupid and dragged on too long, but I find it hilarious that they trained a dog to do that for the commercial.

It wasn't the first commercial to feature a dog fetching beer, so I gave Budweiser zero credit for it.

I liked the Audi vampires commercial, Hyundai cheetah, and the M&Ms.

Honorable mention to the yogurt commercial. I'd also say the Hyundai song one at the beginning, but again, that was done before, recently.

I thought the cheesy commercial with the band playing 'at the half-time' and having them later show up in the half time show was pretty well thought out.

I thought the commercials were absolutely terrible. They get worse every year.

The only one I found mildly ammusing was the Seinfeld / Leno one.

The Audi commercial would have worked better as a flashlight or a lightbulb commercial. But as a car ad, it runs into the problem that nobody buys a car for its headlights.

This. But I did kind of like the Bud Light one with the rescue dog, mostly because I have a coworker named Weiguo (pronounced the same).

A pretty good game. Recorded the second half as I didn't want to stay up to 3am or later. Had the added bonus of skipping the halftime 'entertainment' and as it was on the Beeb, no adverts!

Still can't understand why there was a sitdown touchdown.

That guy tried to stop because there was one minute left, and had he stopped, his team would still have been in position to win, but the clock would have kept running so there would have been very little if any time for their opponents to try to regain the lead. Since hecontinued into the end zone, his team took the lead, but the Patriots got the ball back with that full minute remaining. Granted, it's not much time, but their quarterback is known for late game comebacks as long as the championship isn't on the line.

I see, he was trying to run the time down...but had nowhere to go except the end zone. It just looked a bit strange and the commentators didn't seem to explain what it was all about.

I know the game can swing back quickly and the Patriots almost made it. Didn't they use use a timeout or two a bit early and wasted them?

It was a tense and exciting finish and I'm glad I watched it. I've seen the last 10 or so finals, it's just a pity that an hour of play takes so long.

Stopping short of the goal line seems like something you'd do if you were already ahead. It would have been embarrassing if they had run down the clock and then fumbled on the field goal attempt, costing them the game.

Actually, it was the Giants who had wasted two timeouts. The only one that the Pats used unnecessarily was a red flag that was not overturned, so it cost a timeout. And they pretty much knew it wouldn't go their way, but they were desperate. I think that the coaching and mental game very clearly was in the Pats favor. It's just that the Giants had a lot more raw talent. Plus a little luck (i.e. three fumbles, all of which they managed to recover).

I do have to admit that Ely is a great quarterback, just massively talented. That pass he threw that meant the game -- the one that Patriots threw the red flag for, it was an awesome pass. The guy was as covered as a receiver can be, and the pass had to be perfect for him to catch it. I'm pretty sure that the number of quarterbacks ever who could throw such a pass with any sort of consistency, under such pressure, is less than five. ... and two of them are named Manning.

Just like the last superbowl between these two, there are five or six individual plays that, if any one of them had gone differently, the game would have ended differently. The amazing backfield tackle by the Giants defensive end whose name I have blocked. The Wes Welker drop that forced the Pats to punt with 2 minutes left. The fumbles. It's all still so painful.

A pinpoint sideline pass like that? There is a short list of QBs I trust to make that consistently under pressure, but Eli isn't on the list.

Healthy Peyton Manning
Drew Brees
Aaron Rodgers

Eli has proven to me that he can have a great season, but he hasn't proven he's an amazing QB. Kurt Warners' article on the topic reflects my views pretty well.

I'll admit that I don't watch a lot of NFC, so my knowledge of Eli is at least half from the two superbowls in which he beat us. Melancholy Both of them included clutch 4th quarter plays.
