Has anyone ever written one? For someone who only knows how to program her graphing calculator, and that was 8 years ago, how huge is the learning curve? I don't have a mac, so it'd be a web-based app (look, it's like I know what I'm talking about!)
Any advice/tips/resources? |

Apple will not accept an App that is just a shell around a web-site. They are very persnickety about controlling content and they will not allow an App where you can pull a bait-and-switch.
There is the possibility to bookmark a website and place an icon on your desktop. If you're going this route then look at Apple's Pastry-kit JavaScript framework. It's Apple's framework for making their web-pages iPhone-like. It was kept as a big secret under NDAs, but there are many places where you can download it. It allows you to do things like hiding the navigation bar etc. |

I don't know what that means.
If you're talking about writing an actual application, you need to have a mac for development. I barely got started on it, but then got sidetracked doing something for droid.
On itunes, you can find videos of an ios app development course given at Stanford U. |

If you can give a brief outline of what you intend, I can probably point you in the right direction. If is commercially sensitive, you can email me.
I have some experience with writing Apps for the iPhone/iPad.
There are also some possibilities like Quark's App Studio, if you're just concerned with releasing content. It's designed to allow you to publish active content for download as an app and is more catered to digital publishing, but it might suit your purposes. Quark seems to be on a downward spiral though, so I wouldn't depend on them being around in the long term. |
