It's a cryptic writing contest!

Here's how it works:
1) I assign a list of 10 words
2) We all write cryptic clues for each word and PM them to me
3) I post them here (the writer of each clue will not be revealed until after scoring is complete.)
4) We all rank them (excluding our own) via a PM to me.
5) Lowest combined score wins.

If I choose to clue Central African Republic do I have to provide a clue for the way it appears in that list i.e. Cen Afr Rep?

Thinking of a revised scoring method for this given the number of entries...it's likely hard to be that diligent in ranking 1 through 8 or 9. I was thinking we could go with ranking our the top 3 clues for each word. All unranked entries would then be given a score of 4.

Any opposed to this idea? Any better ideas that I haven't thought of?

Let's simplify the scoring method, and play off the Olympics at the same time. After reviewing the clues, use the template below to rank them. Just copy paste the clue into the Gold, Silver, or Bronze position.

I will then tabulate the scores, awarding 3 points for Gold, 2 for Silver, 1 for Bronze, and 0 for any clues that miss the podium.

Hardly. I would think novice would be the favorite.

But considering the other stuff I'm dealing with now on GL, plus a little chaos going on in my real life (nothing bad, just busy), I am neither feeling it nor finding the time. I just looked at what I had so far, and of the four done, one of them I dislike, so I'm really not even a third of the way done.

I'd be in favour of a deadline extension to allow the entrants more time.

I don't know if other people would be as willing. But I entered to try and compete against good clue writers like Thok. I might not beat them, but I really would love for them (and Zag) to have more time to enter/update clues.
