Seems like the second S was optional based on the way novice provided the word: SPORT(S) _________________ I hate people who try to write interesting things in their signature. |

I thought it was in interesting one, especially since I typically hear Americans use the term in the plural when referring to the whole of "sports" collectively, however the UK seems to refer to this concept using the singular term "sport". (I'll defer to our UK/European members on that, but that is certainly how I hear it used while watching EPL soccer.) _________________ I hate people who try to write interesting things in their signature. |

I am not from the UK, but I do often use a British English dictionary for definitions. As such, the second definition for the word 'sport' in Collins English Dictionary (online) does define the word in the singular for the sport-activites considered collectively. |

We've got a few options for CYNIC, but I'll wait a bit before posting a poll so that the current "best-so-far" poll can run its course. It's a close one so far...though I actually think the best clue so far isn't even in the poll, since it didn't win (Jack_Ian's INCEPTION clue) _________________ I hate people who try to write interesting things in their signature. |
