Could someone please IP ban me? Those things are ridiculously easy to circumvent and I will return later. _________________ He tried to understand a phenomenon by describing and depicting it in utmost detail and did not emphasize experiments or theoretical explanation. |

Since you have posted from dozens or even hundreds of different IPs, it isn't likely to matter much. I'm not going to go try to ban them all, or even the top ten. The one you sent that particular note from is a uaf.edu IP address, then banning that is likely to block other people at University of Alaska Fairbanks.
If you really are feeling that your GL participation is getting beyond your control, then an IP ban is not the answer. As with any sort of addiction, the solution is going to have to come from inside you, not from someone or something external. I would be glad to talk with you about it, either here or via PM. You could even skype message me if you really need some help, I am stevezag on skype. However, I warn you that I don't have any particular skills in helping people with troubles beyond half a century of life experience mostly trying to be a kind person.
Is there any chance that you're having daylight issues up there in Fairbanks, and not getting enough sleep? Perhaps a day in a very dark room would help you settle down. |

I perform administrative tasks on a gaming site and we regularly assist players by removing them temporarily, especially around exam-time. It helps keep them out of temptation's way.
If MatthewV needs help in taking a break from the GL, for whatever reason (it's really none of our business), then we should do what we can to facilitate that.
Perhaps reset the password for some specified period.
Of course it would be easy to circumvent, but then we're not trying to block him, just help him in any way we can.
I hope you get the break you're looking for MattV, and I look forward to your return, fully invigorated by your hiatus.
BTW MattV, if there's any way I can be of assistance, please let me know. I certainly would not like to lose such an industrious and valued GL'er. |

| I've resorted to putting 127.0.0.1 in my hosts file for some domains, just to help break habits when I needed to. Obviously trivial to circumvent, but enough to remind me of a desire for at least temporary change in what I do online. |

OK. Considering Jack_Ian's advice that it might be helpful, I'll block the three top IP's that MattV uses.
MattV, let me know when you want them unblocked. I'll probably undo it myself in a week (that is, if I remember) because I am concerned that they represent public computers at UAF, and could block someone else. In the meantime (assuming you still read this) feel free to contact me directly at zag@zag.net when you feel you are ready to be unblocked, for advice, or just to vent. |
