Do we need to limit it to five clues per poll? If it moves quickly, isn't it better to let it run for at least two days or so and just include more clues instead?
I think this was a fun word to clue (like all the previous ones, really), so I would have been a little bummed if I missed it. |

There's no limit, but if we have 5 or more and I have a few minutes, I'll typically post the poll. If we have less than 5, I'll wait for more. I only posted what I did because I was bored, started to post the poll, then realized I only had 4.
So, if we have 5 clues but no poll posted, feel free to submit one.
I probably won't post the poll til later tonight or tomorrow now that I'm busy again. _________________ I hate people who try to write interesting things in their signature. |

Here's how I understand DejMar's
CELIBATE:
Embracing libido without a marriage vow almost creates less resistance for one who is unmarried. (8)
a marriage vow = I DO
LIBIDO without I DO = LIB
almost CREATES = CREATE (DejMar is using "almost" as an indicator to subtract the last letter, I assume)
resistance = R
CREATE less R = CEATE
embracing LIB, CEATE = CE (LIB) ATE _________________ I hate people who try to write interesting things in their signature. |

Too late for the poll, but here are two more for CELIBATE:
Cold, twisted humor persistently worried virgin.
C+ELIB+ATE // CELIBATE
1. C = cold (abbreviation)
2. BILE = humor
3. {twisted 2 = ELIB} reversal indicator: twisted
4. ATE = persistently worried
5. CELIBATE = virgin
Place of exile has one entering and others returned to continent.
C(EL(I)BA)TE // CELIBATE
1. ELBA = place of exile (from continent)*
2. I = one
3. {1 has 2 = EL(I)BA} container containment indicator: has
4. ETC = and others ('et cetera', abbreviation)
5. {4 returned = CTE} reversal indicator: returned
6. {3 entering 5 = C(EL(I}BA)TE} container insertion indicator: entering
7. CELIBATE = continent
*I considered from continent too verbose. Either way is still a correct definition of Elba, the isle to which Napoleon was banished from the European continent.

Vagrant, I think it is clever. If only PASS was a bit more synonymous to COLLAPSE, it would be a great clue.
COL = a PASS between mountain peaks
LAPSE = PASS {both are synonyms of cease, expire}
COLLAPSE = PASS (out) and a near synonym of expire (= PASS) |

Nice idea... How about:
Pass before, Pass away, Pass out. (8)
Although, I'm wondering if the words LAPSE and COLLAPSE aren't quite closely related etymologically. If so, the clue is less satisfying. |

LAPSE is the base/root word of COLLAPSE
The prefix col- is a by-reason-of-pronuciation variant of com-, meaning together. |
