Like the post count, it only tells you how many posts were made, not how many stuck around.

And you haven't considered the repercusssions of changing that. Do you want the count to update on the day the (ex-) post was made, or the day it was deleted? What if a mod deletes a thread - do we alter everyone's post count accordingly?

Oh yeah, and we should get bonus posts if a thread we posted gets copied (eg. moved to a different forum while it stays locked in the old one)!

hmm strange. I used to think deleting individual posts updates my postcount, while deleting a whole thread will not change anything for the posters to it...

whenever a topic gets moved, could it get a note sticked on top of it (under its name or something - ow, almost forgot to mention, IN it, appears only when you read its contents) like "This has appeared here out of the blue - the blue background of OffTopic i mean" or something similar?

i was about to post a whole new thread, when i saw this one and thought, "yes, this is a very small request."
could alt text things be added for the new-posts/no-new-posts light bulb and folder images, so one can see what's new with images turned off?

Could the auto-refreshing "Thanks for posting your message, %s! We are now sending you back automatically to this topic. Please wait two seconds.\n\nClick here if you do not want to wait any longer (or if your browser does not automatically forward you)." page have a second link, towards the FORUM instead of towards the thread?

I'll work on these today.

I'm not sure what you're asking here. When we move a thread, it does put a note in the thread...

Done. If it doesn't work, then let me know.

Good idea. Done. I think... I'll have to test it when I post this.

I'll work on this one now... I should test the forward thing first.

Voting on a poll leads to a page which has only the link to hurry to the thread, and doesn't include the go to forum link (i guess i could call this my pet FR Embarassed ).

Also, i'd like to ask again for (quote)"alt text things be added for the new-posts/no-new-posts light bulb and folder images, so one can see what's new with images turned off"(/quote). They currently both start with "N". Dispirited

Tinsy little tiny bug: last post hover shows the full URL of images in the post. And also replaces invisible text with "invisible", which kind of gives it away...

GLPics issue: i've been having this previously, but it went away without me doing anything. When i try to upload files to my GLPics account, the file shows up, only it is "0.00 B" in size. Confused

Annoyingly, GLPics refuses to upload a file for me. It stops either immediately (producing the 0.00 file i mentioned above), or after 32.0 KB. I've just given up on "trying again", and would like to know how (if) i can FTP into my account...

What i cannot understand is what's wrong. I have uploaded larger files (700 - 800 KB), and anyway, the first time i tried this particular file it got to 152 / 234 KB. What can i do in this situation?!?

No, space is not the issue. I use only 5.26 MB, so i still have 4.73 MB available... The idea is that for some strange reason the connection between my 'puter and the glpics server is consistently cut in the middle of that upload. (And before you ask, I don't use a firewall...)

It's been doing that off and on for months, if not almost a year. I think it's related to the actual space allocated on the server instead of the hypothetical space available on your account.

Thanks. Done some thinking, and i think i found a way to link "through" it to some other sites that might host pics for me (at some time in the future)... Almost Fonz Cool

Consequently, i freed up some room and managed to upload.

The Search function has a glitch. Not that i was expecting it to be flawless... Enthusiastic Grin

When i search the VG forum for "Chess4", i get four results (two signups and two games, one of either of those actually being called "Chess^4". I think it's very nice to have the caret ignored. Felicitous ). BUT when i search for "Chess", i get 45 hits, and none of those is the 5641 thread ("Chess4 - The Game [DETH WINS!!!!!!]"). Any idea why? Shocked

You need to do "Chess*". Otherwise it only matches whole words (after ignoring ^, apparently, I didn't know that Revenge most foul!).

Ah, i see... Thanks for the tip. So does this mean i can now post a "small request" for the text on the search page to be slightly changed, such that the last statement ("Use * as a wildcard for partial matches") become "Use * as a wildcard for partial matches, since the search will otherwise only find whole words"? Felicitous

I think it's implied that people know English and would make the leap from "there exists a special option for partial matches" to "if I don't use it, I won't get partial matches".

Wow, this is still on the first page?!? Revenge most foul!

The two links at the start of http://www.greylabyrinth.com/puzzles/puzzle.php?puzzle_id=194 are missing the "/puzzles/" part of their URL.
While i'm at these, the link at http://www.greylabyrinth.com/puzzles/puzzle.php?puzzle_id=puzzle101 is the "old-style" http://www.greylabyrinth.com/puzzle049.htm, and the link from its solution is a weird http://greylab/puzzle049.htm... Confused

Dorothy does not work.

Presumably because of the brackets, since Dorothy does create a link (albeit a false one).

Fortunately using %28 and %29 as replacements (i.e. Dorothy) is a workaround, but it's still a bug in URL parsing for links.
