((Resurrecting this ))

The "Hop to ... Forum" selection tag still shows the private threads in the Puzzles and Games Category. This time don't fix it, just tell Sofis (i think it was him) to let you know next time he moves some forum.

Ow and since i'm at it, might as well paraphrase Bicho: Thanks, Hy. Thank you À02 times. (Including the edit forwards to same page feature. )

Now if only you'd make the iframe start in the same page too... j/k

it was nice of you to add the [inv] tag, beside the [invisible] one. BTW i never got to test how you pair those! out[inv]in and out[invisible]in

PS <FONT COLOR="<!!BGCOLOR!!>"> and </FONT C> !! =] They showed up when using [invisi] tags inside the outer ones!

Hmm i got a silly feature out of the acronym text: i used TAB's in code tags to align text. The acronym displayed them as <br>'s ((\n's, CR's, whatever you like )). Test here are some TAB's.

Code:
t a b s in code

It does it while not inside code's too - look at this reply's acronym.

Also what's with the double closing bracket for chess tags i keep seeing around??

PS I really want those tabs in a last post

Again about chess:
WHAT am i doing wrong

groza: added a double bracket to see if it fixes it. I'm not sure why others use them.

Copied CrystyB's board - doesnt work - removed square bracket and the extra ;
Chess Board

Blank

Copied my game against bravehat. Works
Chess Board

Copied CrystyB's board again but played a different move.
Chess Board
CB

Blank

Tried CB's first move again
Chess Board

The move B2 to B4 seems to fail first shot. This is interesting. I trialled a lot more boards by previewing my post, and that move is the only one that errors so far... I think we have a bug in the tags.

Hmm i have a request for the chess tags: reading replies 19 and 20 makes one want to have the Player 1 and 2 switched, which should be SOOO easy for the UBB Keeper...

Edit: I keep forgetting about the TABs in the last post...

Okay, I fixed a small glitch which wouldn't let a b column be the first move (I have to do some guessing on where to put things, so if I see "b" as the first letter, I make sure that there is a comma in the instructions so that it proccesses it if you just want a blank board with a black piece somewhere.)

It seems to be working. As for the switching first and second player... I say "too much work, for something that will be rarely used"

As for TABs in last post, that's an html thing. The best I could do is to tell ubb to convert tabs to five &nbsp; comments... why can't you just use code tags?

i WAS using code tags when i saw the silly approach. So yes, could you please convert to 3 spaces (or if you have to   use just 1) when building the acronym?

PS Welcome back in this forum!

could someone compile a list of names of GLers? Some i know, some i don't!... And since there are already some in the OC puzzles i would like at least those (if what i'm thinking of - all names provided by the users in a standard fashion* - is too much to compile together).

* getting 100+ emails would certainly not be worth it, so i'm thinking either in profiles or in a topic especially for this - maybe even using a shared username

There are currently 1640 registered bulletin board members.

Limiting it to Daedalians:

There are currently 593 registered bulletin board members.

To get a list of names that can be printed here or sent to those wanting it requires more knowledge than I have.

One way I usually handle this is to check the users who have posted in the past seven days

http://www.greylabyrinth.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?action=getdailyusers
http://www.greylabyrinth.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?action=getdailyusers&minusday=1
http://www.greylabyrinth.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?action=getdailyusers&minusday=2
http://www.greylabyrinth.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?action=getdailyusers&minusday=3
http://www.greylabyrinth.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?action=getdailyusers&minusday=4
http://www.greylabyrinth.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?action=getdailyusers&minusday=5
http://www.greylabyrinth.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?action=getdailyusers&minusday=6

That's a seven day history of who posted.

Hy, you misunderstood me. I would have definitely said usernames if i wanted those, but i don't since i still have that year-old list of GLers . I mean real names that correspond to the usernames. Like Sofis' and Gomez' are available through the OpenContent puzzles. Are any other names specificaly public-domain like that around here?

Well, as that is not in the database, there is little we can do about it. I suggest you open a thread in OT and see who wants to give their real name.

I figured they're not in the database. But surely someone took a survey for the GLOC ? And i didn't mean you as mods, i meant anybody, but mith is IMO the most informed in this respect and i was waiting for his point of view.

Heh i guess mith never stops by this forum... i had the title changed to have "[mith, could you read the latest request too please?]" appended to it since 30th of September and he did not post a word in this... Half Frown

Anyway, changing the subject i would like to submit a new feature request: Would it be so hard to have the chess tags evaluated in preview mode also? Since the way it is done now i would have to exit the GL to replay a chessgame. (At least until i find my old PGN interface in which i could paste the games for the easiest reviewing i have ever encountered)

Just for the acronym building code. Could you rate the easiness of doing it in Perl? I am always baffled when you say 'this is easy' and 'this is hard', having been used to more natural programming languages...

perl isn't that different from other languages (except for having a really shitty and confusing syntax, that makes code very hard to read). However, seeing as we're doing hack jobs at UBB code, sometimes they do things so backwards it's really hard to implement relatively simple features.

The thing about tabs in acronyms...

Currently, I convert <br> and <p> to \t when storing an acronym. Then I convert \t to \n when the acro is printed. I could store <br> and <p> as <br> and <p> and keep tabs as they were, but I remember having a good reason not to...
