The puzzle isn't clear about the following point which would make the puzzle have another twist:
The answer assumed that as soon as the candy was agreably split that the problem is over. However, the way it it written, say the princess won the vote and split up the candy, then the next being should get a chance to suggest a method and get a vote. Continuing like this, what would happen? And what about coalition building? The posted answer is anemic. |

"If a majority agrees, the candy will be divided up that way."
This seems pretty clear; once the candy is divided up, there's not much else to do. Certainly the participants could choose to redistribute the candy, but since they're all greedy, there's no reason to think that anyone who got any candy would give up any of it. As far as coalitions, etc., there is no stated requirement that the kids must vote without consultation - but there's also no enforcement mechanism. The ghost, for example, could promise to offer a more even distribution if the others reject the princess' proposal; but if he actually gets to offer a proposal for voting, it may not be the one he promised. |
