If the desert were more than 100 miles radius, you could travel infinitely until the oasis gave out. Or if we want to be a stickler, then you could travel an infinite amount of distance period, since you would guarantee yourself exit from the desert. You would jump int a plane or go into space and keep on traveling. That is, if you can actually store water and food. I quote, "and that you can drop water and food in arbitrary amounts." any body can drop water and food and find it again. Doesn't make it edible

The puzzle states that the oasis is infinite. It never runs out. You can go forever until you die.
