I am new to this site and have been going through the archives. The solution to this puzzle can be better. He states that worst case scenario is you can get the counterfeit in three weighs but can't tell if is light or heavy. The solution I have shows you can 100% of the time find the counterfeit and whether it is light or heavy in those 3 weighs.

I tried to check for any discussion topics to find if the answer was out there but didn't have any luck. Anyone want to try to find the better answer or would you like me to post my solution.

Well I am still going through the archives and I found the next counterfeit coin puzzle. It doesn't show the updated answer for the first puzzle but it does show how to get the answer.

Hopefully next time I post I have something better to contribute.
