I was also thinking about adding a liquid that would mix with the oil, while rising its level in the lamp. Still, it shouldn't affect its flexibility... I am still thinking of a liquid with such features. And I haven't yet understood from where the oil (or water or anything) is inserted into the lamp...

If the goal of this puzzle is to confuse people that it's working! the water idea is the answer but no one can come to grips with that because the are all scerming "thats to simple!" By the way "You WILL be assimilated"
