In puzzle 38 Chess Match(http://www.greylabyrinth.com/Puzzles/answer038.htm) why wouldn't white be able to move thier bishop in the center of the screen right next to the black king?? They white queen would keep black from taking the piece and thusly the king is in check mate because he cannot move to any other square without being taken. Is this not a viable answer?? Is there something else that I am missing??

Yes, you're missing that it's not a white queen... you're looking at the king (:

There is another solution. Put the rook just below the Black King, Chess Mate ...

Again, you're falling victim to thinking the white king is a queen. All the black king would have to do is capture the rook.

No, knighty, this time you haven't got it (; I think he meant Rf1+ but it's not mate, because black can move either Kg3 or Kg4.
I must make 2 ammends: Is "below the king" what i think or what knight thinks, Jim-Bob? And i hope in the future you'll use "cheCK-mate". It's more pleasant when you hear/read it. Thank you.
