In the puzzle/problem "einstins challenge" hint 4 says:
"the green house is on the left of the white house."
so the green house could be house 1 or 4... am i right or am i just missing something? cuz if i'm right this thing ain't answered yet.
i hope i'm makeing sense

| Are you questioning whether it means that the green house is on the left and adjacent to the white one, or just to the left but not necessarily touching? |

No, i'm just saying that it doesn't say its house 5's neighbor so it could be house 1 or 4. but in the solution it just assumes it is its neighbor and makes it house 4... i think the white house could even be house 4 and the green be house 1.... it doesn't say it has to be its neighbor...
I hope i'm "makeing" sense

Take that clue along with the clue "green house drinks coffee."
The white house can't be house 1, because we know the green house is to the left of it and house 1 has none to the left of it. It can't be the second house because of clues 9 and 14 making that the blue house. It can't be house 3 because the blue one is to the left not the green one. that leaves house 4 or 5 as the only options.
Since green drinks coffee, it can't be house 3 since "center house drinks milk." Therefore, green has to be house 4 and white house 5. |

| I relize that, but couldn't house 1 be green? or does green have to be right next to white? |

House one cannot be green. It says that the Norwegian lives in house one. If you break down the clues, you find out that the Norwegian neither drinks coffe or lives in a green house. The German cannot live in the yellow, blue or red houses, so maybe 4 and five are the German and the Swede. Not that I know. (I do. I solved it correctly).
P.S: All smart people: go to www.mensa.com and do the test to see how likely you would be to qualify to join the most intelligent organisation in the world! Oh, and i am Australian and, no, my neighbour is not miles away. He is about 10 meters away. Just to clear it up. And, despite what television or others will have you beleive, 'aussie' is pronounced 'oz - e' |

| Just a wee correction to wizzzkidd's post: Tried following the link and it turned out that www.mensa.com is a German cookery website!!! I think www.mensa.org is the one you're after. |
