The way I see it the solution to the "Show me the Way Home" puzzle is flawed. The correct road is clearly the right road.
My reasoning is as follows.
If the correct road is the RIGHT road, the following applies.
[T = Truth tellers; L = Liars; K = Know the road; D = Don't know the road.]
1) Take the left road
8) Take the left road
These two are Liars and Know the correct road.
Tally: T = 0; L = 2; K = 2; D = 0.
2) Take the right road
4) Take the right road
These two are Truth-tellers and Know the correct road.
Tally: T = 2; L = 2; K = 4; D = 0.
3) Don't take the middle road
This one is a Truth-teller but Doesn't know the correct road (but knows it isn't the middle road).
Tally: T = 3; L = 2; K = 4; D = 1.
5) Don't take the right road
This one is a Liar and Knows the correct road.
Tally: T = 3; L = 3; K = 5; D = 1.
6) Take the middle road
9) Take the middle road
These two are both Liars but Don't know the correct road (but they know it isn't the middle road).
Tally: T = 3; L = 5; K = 5; D = 3.
7) Don't take the left road.
10) Don't take the left road
These two are Truth-tellers but they Don't know the correct road (but they know it isn't the left road).
Tally: T = 5; L = 5; K = 5; D = 5.
So this satisfies the criteria that 5 are Truth-tellers, 5 are Liars, 5 Know the correct road and 5 Don't know the correct road.
There the correct road, appropriately enough, is the RIGHT road.

| I take "don't know which road is correct" to also mean "doesn't know which two roads are wrong"; so #5 can not necessarily say that. However, a child may be able to figure out whether his/her statement is true or false by using what the previous kid said and whether that kid is liar/not. |

| 5 isn't the problem, 9 is. |
