Looking at the diagram and thinking about kindergarten.... I noticed that there are 8 different colors used. Aren't these the crayon colors in the Crayola 8-packs usually used by kindergarten classes? So maybe the diagram has something to do with the color prizms? Just a thought....

Seems that alot of people thought that at first but looking at it either from top to bottom or bottom to top it just doesn't work out in my head as a family tree... unless, as someone else has also said, there was some extra "closeness" in this family going on Felicitous

Looks like a schematic for DC current.

The X regulates the flow to a city block.

An AC grid would need a return path.

The person is very old, thus remembers the direct current time frame before AC was adopted.

I say this because it looks to be both electrical and mechanical so only a DC current would fit schematic and a worm drive regulator before transformers.

Who might be living in a grey labyrinth? The only answer I can think of is mice. If so, then this could be representative of their family tree I suppose. But the green "X" still puzzles me. Is the "X" referring to "X" chromosome? If so, then what might be the significance of its' placement?
The offspring of the first blue & red mating (if starting at the top) would consist of 6 exact matches (blue) of 1 parent and 2 exact matches (red) of the other parent. The brown and grey being separated could then indicate 2 of their offspring that match neither parent....which was also the result of the top left yellow & red mating since none of their offspring were a match of either parent.
So if they're mice the family tree might make sense. But I still can't make sense of the green "X".

catfish...check out the other crayon art thread. Contrary to it's title the solution hasn't been posted there yet, but there a lot more ideas floating there.

Okay, catfish.

Hint 1: apart from sanitation, the aqueduct, wine, schools, and roads,
what did the Romans bring us ?

Hint 2: apart from a mouse, what (or who) could be living in a Grey Labyrinth ?

Hint 3: Hint 1 has little to do with the puzzle, I'm afraid...

Hi fellow puzzlers!

I didn't try a lot to solve this puzzle, fortunately because, although I am Greek and I adore Mythology and I feel flattered about the puzzle's creator choice, I would feel very stupid if I had devoted time to solve a problem that essentially is ...not a puzzle but a question of knowledge. Or, we have here a problem on the definition of a puzzle, as I would suppose most people would mean a problem of logic and not an application of data... so please3, O mighty Minotaur, provide us with problems that anyone could solve with a sharp mind, and not with his encyclopaedia.

Regards
