Just a thought on the first level:

Chance, Chicken, Lip -Fat

Saturated, Human, Man - Super

It doesn't change the next level, but I think it is a bit neater.

I typed this for your original new topic, fetus, so here's the explanation you requested.

A tribond is 3 words that go together with a fourth common word. An example might be Corn, Steak, and Black, which all match up with Pepper. The match may come before or after.

A 3x3 takes that to the next level, by giving nine words that represent three tribonds. An example might be Dog, Cob, Sweet, Cube, House, Round, Eye, Lamp, Plague. The first, second and third groups of three would lead to the words in the previous example. Of course, the list is generally alphabetized. The tricky part is determining how the words are grouped.

A 3x3x3 has 27 words which must be whittled down to 9 and then 3 and then 1 final answer. It gets more difficult as there are often multiple possible combinations that seem to fit. But there's generally only one right way to get to the final answer. When posted in the VSP forum, the person who wrote it generally posts progress as tribonds ae solved.

If the puzzle is clean, the constructor won't reuse words in any round. This isn't a rule, though, since these were created in the GL.

Does this help?

Mr. E

First: 3x3 puzzles are not solved in the fashion you were attempting. The word that makes up the set of three is not a word RELATED to the three, like in your example of "Invisible, Shade, Slippers" relating to CONCEALMENT. The word that binds the set is a word that can be attached to the three, such as "Chance, Saturated, Lip" giving the word "Fat" - Fat Lip, Saturated Fat, Fat Chance, or "Hurricace, Post, Shade" giving the word "Lamp" - Lamppost, Hurricane Lamp, Lamp Shade". The keyword and the hint words combine.

Second: the puzzle has been solved. You may feel free to solve it yourself, of course, that's why we try and put answers invisible - so as not to spoil the fun for those who wish to try it on their own. Merely highlight the post, or edit it, and you will see the invisible text - which will prove or disprove your personal answer.

Third: Once a puzzle has been solved, people are not really interested in helping someone solve it. The solution is contained in the messages above. If you think the answer is wrong because you have achieved an answer of your own, or if you have a better solution, or if you don't understand how the answer was gotten, that would be a good time to post.

Please don't be discouraged, most of these puzzles are solved as a team, one person building off another's work. I have great respect for one who decides to tackle these on their own.

So it is. I didn't realize the original tribond was the same as the following 3x3. Of course I was attempting a joke, because black clearly goes with plague rather than bubonic, but I still didn't notice. Thanks Flea Motel.
