I found an alternate solution to Einstein's Challenge. In the clues, it says the green house is on the left of the white house. Well, by logical operations the green house could be house 1 or house 4. House 1 is a possible choice for the green house because it does not state that the green house is immediately to the left of the white house. And, since house 1 can be green, the following solution is possible. The first house is green, the norwegian lives there, he drinks coffee, he smokes blend, and he has fish. The second house is blue, the german lives there, he drinks water, he smokes prince, and he has cats. The third house is yellow, the swede lives there, he drinks milk, he smokes dunhill, and he has dogs. The fourth house is red, the brit lives there, he drinks beer, he smokes blue master, and he has horses. The fifth house is white, the dane lives there, he drinks tea, he smokes pall mall, and he has birds. As I have found an alternative solution to this puzzle, it is possible that there exists other solutions as well. Well, I'm sure I will hear from those who challenge my solution, but please do not argue about the green house being immediately to the left of the white house because it only says that the green house is on the left of the white house. Any other contradictory ideas will be looked upon with a logical eye.

The solution states The Norwegian smokes Dunhill drinks water. What prompts the conclusion that the he is the water drinker????

I had the same idea (after I got the German answer) so I tried out Green in position 1 - if Green is not in 1, it must be in 4, and the rest would follow normally. However, not only would your solution work, house 1 could also have the Norwegian in the Green house with Coffee, Pall Mall and the Birds... and there are also dozens of permutations for the other three houses. Which means that the puzzle won't work unless you interpret the phrase to mean that the green house is immediately to the left of the white house.

there is only one right answer wichever way you interpret the green house being on the left of the right house because the green house smokes prince drinks coffee and is on the left of the white house you [uncalled for expressive deleted] so there is only one answer and the first house is the norwegian and he smokes dunhill and in order for him to smoke dunhill his house has to be next to the house that owns horses and drinks tea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geez, Werebear, cut the guy some slack. If you were forced to use a computer with a broken shift key, no comma or full stop, and a stuck exclamation point, you'd be crabby too.

I saw no yelling marks (i.e. the "!" or some CAPS), and he WAS funny! ((guess i didn't read all of your post, sorry))

Besides, this is becoming boring. I will post a link here to my previously posted all solutions, and PLEASE MITH edit the solution to include "yes we know the text has a wording problem. It's been reminded often enough so we wouldn't forget about it! " or the like.

Edit: Hell this is strange. Why did LienX ressurect this older topic instead of the newer one? Re-Edit: i guess he didn't see that because otherwise he would've saw my solutions!
grozaEdit: I presume you wanted your link invised too?
OwnerEdit: Actually... no! But TY for showing me it COULD be done!!! I will post a link here to my previously posted all solutions, ...

MITH, please. Can't you edit either the puzzle file or the answer one? And if you do, the puzzle file's html has two superfluous <br>'s, in #3 between 'brand of' and 'cigarette' and in #4 between 'or drink' and 'the same drink'. I'd love to see this fixed too...
