Wasn't this puzzle #7? http://www.greylabyrinth.com/Puzzles/puzzle007.htm
Of course, that puzzle wasn't stated in such a dumb way, so maybe that makes this puzzle different...

They are slightly different. The new puzzle garuntees the existance of one blue hat, the original garunteed at least one white hat.

When the advisor saw two white hats (in the new puzzle), he knew that he had to be wearing a blue hat.

No it didn't the original guaranteed at least one blue hat too.

p.s. I think it's a great puzzle, it was the answer that was too simplistic (refer to puzzle 7)

But thanks for lureing me back to the GL Puzzle section Will. I agree with your 'puzzles for the people' sentiment

RIGHT!!!

The old puzzle said that the sage opened his eyes to see two blue hats. The new one doesn't say what colors he sees until you read the answer. (my bad)

Puzzles for the people is one thing.

Puzzles written in inane language with bad spelling and grammar are pointless and are going to turn people away from the site. You have lowered the whole tone, and not in a good "for the people" way.

Bah Humbug.

(edit: If it was something to do with April Fools, you'll note I'm sending this just before midnight on the 2nd, so it should be long gone by now if that's what it was about).

I can't believe that my beloved GL has suck to such low depths. Why, if Kevin were still around, he'd be beet red. It's an absolute atrocity that you would allow the scourge of the forums to make a post on the main page of the GL.

Besides that, don't you realize that our main page is a make-or-break for the site? Someday, we'll need advertising again, and in the mean-time, why do you want to turn away futher posters? If I hit upon this site, and that was the message, I'd click "back" quicker than you could say "stupid idea".

I used to respect you, Hy. I even had a good dose of respect for Antrax. No longer...you've taken your fun WAY too far, and I'd like to say now and forevermore that I've had quite enough.

A stunt like this will lose you members. Rest assured that I won't be back any time soon. Thank you very much. The GL was so important to me before you turned it into a three-ring circus.

Good riddance, and many whatever Gods you hold dear grant you the wisdom to beg for forgiveness for your sins.

Thanks a million for ruining one of the web's best sites.
And Goodbye.

-Jake Daniels (Lepton)See you tomorrow. ^_~

BrianL, it was indeed an April Fools joke, as explained all over the place. It should've been categorised as such by now. A new (real) puzzle should be up tomorrow, AFAIK.

Still waiting for this "new puzzle." I hope that inane message on the main page will also be taken down. I'm all for interspersing some easier puzzles, but this has gone on for too long.
