A commercial was aired on television. While that in itself is not an unusual event, what followed was rathar interesting. It caused a little bit of controversy, but not veyr publically. Some people watching assumed the two characters depicted in the commercial were homosexual. Others assumed they were just roomies. The reason for this is not evident by the commercial alone. Later, another commercial was aired, which seemed to play on that contriversity.

My questions for you:

When did the commercial first air?
Who sang the song in the background?
What made the second commercial so much different?

Go ahead and look it up if you want.

If that's right, ronl, I think the group that sings that is Trio.

I don't know if this what you're talking about, but Microsoft did a promotional ad for Internet Explorer that played on that Volkswagon ad, in which Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer were driving around with the same song playing. I don't think that the spot made it beyond the Microsoft company meetings though.

I think I saw a video of that commercial floating around on the internet; Slashdot linked to it once.

"Other answers"? What other answers? No one's posted here for five days, and if the Volkswagen commercial is right, then, well, someone got it right and you might as well tell us so.

Let me see if I can answer all three questions ...

1. It was played during the much publicized coming-out episode of "Ellen."
2. The band "Trio" sang the song in the background.
3. The second commercial, which was only aired privately (and possibly over the internet), replaced the initial characters with Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer.

3rd question has not been answered correctly yet, at least not the answer I was looking for. Keep trying.

i looked it up... the second commercial was for the show "Spin City" and starred Michael J. Fox and Michael Boatman. Boatman's character on the program is gay.
