I need to know what the length of the green line would be. Can one of you maths people please help me, thanks in advance. I know it's probably very simple, but it's been a long time since I've been to school

I might have been able to work it out at one time if I thought the figure was symmetrical. Is it? Or does the horizontal leg of the right angle intersect the 80-100 angle on the right of the diagram?

Anyway, my eyes aren't so good any more. I can't work with such small figures. If it was 110 cm and 80 cm, I could make it out better.

Okay thanks Extro. I'm glad I didn't bother Quail - It is symmetrical, but I'm not sure about the hrizontal question.

I'm making a layout for the studio for my new job and I needed to see if the desks (that's what it is) could take a tablet, keyboard and a monitor. I'm afraid these are the only measurements to hand from the catalogue.

Thanks anyway.

(I'll draw it in photoshop and measre it like that)

Assuming symmetry, isn't it

SQRT [ 1102 - (80/sin(30deg))2 ]

?

I think you'd still need to know if the angles at each end of the 80 mm side are 90 degrees. If so, then the lenght between the blue lines is 92.37 mm.

Take the right side of the shape. Assume the sides marked 110 and the one opposite are parallel (or don't assume it - it doesn't matter). If the angle between the sides marked 110 and 80 is varied, the length of the unknown side varies. That angle (the angles at bot ends of the 80mm side) is not fixed.

I think they will be.(90 degrees for each end of the 80mm line, it's a desk after all).

What are the desk axioms? Doesn't the 120 degree angle at the back violate it's deskness?

I had assumed 120 degrees for the two angles at the bottom.

And the other unknown side is 63.812, which doesn't look right given the picture (that unknown=63.8 side looks longer than the 80 side). But in the picture, the 110 side appears at least twice as long as the 80 side.

That's just an example, I think it would be like the picture but without the little rectangle pieces on the end.

I'm think 55 mm. Assuming symmetry, of course. And assuming I understand the problem at all.

Or maybe it's 80 mm.

I really don't think the picture conveys enough information to me.
