is there any interest in restarting the MOCK TRIAL?
it won't be the same story, and you would have to sign up again for your parts. If you want to sign up and tell me what role you'd like to play - i can always add roles if there is a huge interest, but i don't forsee any.
this time around - if there is interest - you MUST be able to post atleast once PER DAY. if you can't please don't do it, it's too long if you can't do it daily.
I think most of the problem was that the story was just way too long. i will be making up a new scenario, but it will be shorter and have more factual information. i will also provide you with items for evidence. if i see there is interest i will post more information for you.
ROLES
Judge: Silversunset

Prosecution: *MACADAMIAMAN**prosecution 2**prosecution3??*
Jury: *PHANTASYSTARONLINE**juror2**juror3**juror4*
Defendant: *THE.CYNIC*
witnesses: *witness**witness**witness**witness**witness*
undecided roles: VEGETABLE2001
i'll post the informatin now so you can use it to decide if you want to take part or no. MORE INFO OR EVIDENCE CAN BE OBTAINTED ON DEMAND. just ask
*****************************
On June 17th Jullian Marx, C.E.O. of the a highly established company, and his
wife Marrissa were driving with their three children Mark, Brenda and Cecile to
their summer home in Meredith, New Hampshire. They left their home in Springfield,
Massachusetts at 9am that day and were planning on stopping at Marrissa's Parents
house in Brattleboro, Vermont on the way. They were scheduled to reach there at
around 10am that morning.
Marrissa's parents, Jim and Pam Stewart, never saw their daughter or her family.
At 12:45pm june 17th a call was made to the Brattleboro Police department to report
a possible missing person. Deputy John Peterson took the call and informed the parents
that nothing could be done until the family had been missing for atleast 24 hours.
Jim and Pam, two very frustrated parents, decided to go out looking for the family
themselves. They got in their car and prepared the drive the hour towards their home in
Springfield in search of their family. They took back roads to their home and then followed
the highway on the way back - in the same way the family would have.
On Route 91 Jim and Pam came across skid marks and blown out tires in the road. They
pulled their car over and got out to see if the marks were fresh or not. They saw a Blue
Lexis laying on it's side in the ditch between lanes, and a man laying not to far from the
car. Pam went back to the highway to signal someone and find a phone, while Jim went down to
the ditch to attempt to help the man. When he reached the man, he realized it was his
son-in-law Jullian. He ran to the car to find his daughter and grandchidren laying in the car
unconscious.
Less than 10 minutes later 2 ambulances, 3 police cars and 2 fire trucks showed up at the scene.
The three children were pulled from the car and driven to the Franklin Medical Center Emergency
Room in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Marrissa had to be cut from the car and was pronouced
dead on the scene. Jullian was taken to the FMC ER as well, and spent the next month
in the ICCU unit. Mark and Brenda were released 3 days later into the custody of Jim and Pam,
while Cecile stayed in the hospital for week and suffered 3 broken bones and burns
to her upper legs.
When Jullian was released from the hospital, two policemen came to interview him as to the nature of
the accident.
the following is the transcription from the interview:
Police: Mr. Marx, what happned on June 17th?
Marx: We were driving to visit my mother- and father-in-law and the steering wheele stopped working.
we then went off the road.
Police: Was there any reason for the wheel to freeze?
marx: not that i know of.
Police: had you serviced the car lately?
Marx: it was just in the shop last week for a tune-up.
Police: was there anything wrong with it then?
marx: no
Police: what, if anything, did they actually do to the car.
Marx: oil change, filters changed, belts adjusted, breaks adjusted and a check over the system.
Police: that is all?
Marx: yes.
Police: and the steering wheel just stopped working on its own? no warning?
Marx: well there was a snap before it happened.
Police: a snap?
Marx: yes. it sounded almost like a belt-snap.
Police: and then you lost control of the car.
Marx: yes *cough* the car went into the ditch and i heard and saw Marrissa's neck snap.
Police: alright, we'll call you if we have any more questions.
upon inspection of the car, it was found that the steering belts had all snapped, causing the wheel
to malfunction. the auto-shop that had replaced them was contacted and they testified that the belts
were in perfect condition when they were installed, and unless they were cut by hand they would not
have broken. the belts were examined and were found to have a clean straight cut 3/4 of the way through
the belt. There was also a red substance found inside the car near the belt that ws found to be
nail-polish. The nail polish was traced back to Jullians secratary Veronica Burnside. She was then
questioned by the police:
the following is the transcription of the interview:
police: are you aware of the accident that mr. marx and his family were in recently?
Burnside: yes.
Police: are you aware that we found your nail polish on the inside of the car?
Burnside: i have heard a rumor, but it couldn't have been mine.
Police: why is that?
Burnside: because i was in New Hampshire that week.
Police: doing what?
Burnside: visiting my sister.
Police: ma'am we have looked into your family records, and your sister is currently in California.
Burnside: that's where i was. with my sister. she was in New Hampshire.
Police: is there a phone number we can call her at to varify this?
Burnside: her phone is broken. her number is disconnected.
Police: oh. is there any way to contact her?
Burnside: no.

Oh come on! This should be an easy 20,000 for the defence. (I am well healed.)
Sidebar with her honor.
Now you know why I'm the defendant and no an attorney.
Although, if I don't get the case thrown out, you won't be allowing witnesses to be called out of order and so on....Your Honor. |

know what, instead of being a dork and saying it won't work, why don't you get cooler and play along. the reason it didn't work before is because people didn't post.
so thpppppppppppppppppppppt
*does funny chicken dance*
besides, i am asking if there is interest, not saying "YOU WILL DO IT".
if people don't want to do it, it won't happen. if noone signs up we cant do it, but for those who want to, it could be fun.

Can't find a prosecuter eh?
I'm not surprised. They only prosecute cases they know they can win.
And, Your Honor...calling someone poopie-face is not really befitting the court. |

Finally! People are showing up to defend me.
You'll have to split the fee with Faeriefire.
Upps--OK I see a prosecutor...but I think they're a bit of a nut.
And by the way, I am innocent.

I'm not getting paid enough to actually believe that you're innocent.
As a matter of fact, I'm not getting paid enough to go and learn another set of laws. Can I switch to a witness, maybe?
