No single favorite, but their are definate rules:
- Nothing with nuts
- Some texture is good, but it shouldn't risk my teeth (chocolate chips are bad is big, great is small)

Some recent winners: Blueberry wafflecone, S'mores, Moose Tracks.

I also like a number of "death by chocolate"-style entries. For example, if it was called,"Double Chocolate brownie fudge swirl"...... *drools*.

In the premium ice-cream category, anything that Breyers makes (without nuts) is generally outstanding, but stick to the black packages. Their strawberry ice cream really re-defines what good ice cream is supposed to taste like.

My two favourites are local varieties made popular by the London Ice Cream Company (London, Ontario that is):

Moosetracks - Chocolate ice cream with a ribbon of peanut butter, plus chocolate chunks and mini chocolate peanut butter cups.

Raspberry Bugaboo - Vanilla ice cream with a ribbon of raspberry jam, plus chocolate chunks and mini raspberry liqueur-filled chocolate cups

Isley's butter pecan. Isley's was a deli in the Pittsburgh area when I lived there. I haven't had any since 1977. Other companies make butter pecan but it's all bland in comparison. Baskin Robbins' Gold Medal Ribbon is pretty good. Most flavors are acceptable.

ML, you can only get Bluebell in Texas unless you have it shipped. But I hear people do that.

I'm personally a sucker for Mint Chocolate Chip... but there's a place in Austin called Amy's that has the best sweet cream icecream... get strawberry's mixed into it. Mmmm... It's similar to Marble Slab, if anyone knows of their icecream parlor gimmik. They take many plain flavors of icecream and will mix in any kind of topping you want, like fresh fruite or candy bars or chocolate chips, cookie dough, gummi bears, etc... We have a Marble Slab here. It's tasty, but it just isn't on par with Amy's.

Panda Paws. Nothing like it. Well, OK, there's a lot like it, but not EXACTLY like it.

On the bright side, most of NY, NJ, and PA is now effervescent purple, as opposed to boring Periwinkle.
