Microsoft word won't work. It'll open and then close a few seconds later. This is especially irritating as there is a job application my brother has to fill out that was sent in an E-mail. The e-mail was sent to his e-mail account from the job person's account. We tried opening it just by clicking the little link, and a new window would open with the application in it, but an internet explorer error messagewould come up. We clicked OK and IE closed itself, taking the application with it. I decided to save target as..., which worked, but when we tried to open it, microsoft word said something likeit was too large for it to open correctly. So we tried a memo that was also sent in the e-mail. It would open just fine in word, but then it closed because, as I said, word does that.
So my question is: What do I need to do to open this application and memo?
Thanks in advance.

If you just need to read it and print it you could download Microsoft Word viewer. It's a smaller application that allows you to look at Word files but not edit them.
http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2000/wd97vwr32.aspx
Of course, you'd be installing yet another program on an overloaded computer. |

A few options:
1) Format and reinstall important things.
2) ctrl-alt-delete and kill a lot of useless programs that are running (I swear some computers have WAY TOO MUCH running on them that is just wasted memory)
3) Download OpenOffice
