Why i am leaving the GL

I know i don't post much on the forums any more, but after an experience i had in GL Central today, i have decided to leave the GL for a long time if not forever. I would like to explain why

When i first came to the GL it was a place where very different people with one common interest (puzzles) came to play games, do puzzles and socialize. There was a strong sense of community. Most of the people were friends, and barely anyone was ever mean to anyone.

I loved the GL because of the debates. You could start a debate on anything, and people with all different views joined in on them. There were never fights that i remember.

I left the forums a while ago because i was no longer interested in them, but stayed in chat. even though i idled most of the time, i liked talking to people and "arguing" about different things.

The bottom line is: I'm sick of the drama. It's totally ridiculous. Today i was in chat and said something about how i thought it was absurd that helen keller was seen as a hero for becoming educated and conforming.. now, of course i expected an argument on this... but what i got was a personal attack. I am apparently "a moron" for not seeing things in the exact same way as HyToFry. now, i realize that what i said could be seen as being moronic, but instead of even trying to understand what i was saying, he spewed off his opinion and called me names. I realized that this is basically what all "arguments" on the GL consist of now, so i have decided to leave.

Well, that's my piece of drama. think what you like.

Ahaha. If I had to leave every time people attacked me despite not presenting a better case than I have, simply because they fail to recognise the possibility of disagreeing while still maintaining the legitimacy of other opinions, uh... I'd have to leave many many times? Esp. when it comes to Hy.
In short, don't take it too hard, I was using you as an example in a conversation with someone on AIM today, so you can't leave (and yes, the conversation did include a reference to drugs, how did you know? )

I'm sorry that I can't accept the statement "Hellen Keller is a conformist because she recieved education." If that makes me a bad person, then add it to the fucking list of reasons that hy sucks.

By the way, Lunix, Hy just pasted the GLC log at me, and I must say that I'm not sure people appreciate Hellen Keller for being educated, but rather for overcoming her limitations. Getting educated on its own is not as impressive, so your whole argument is kind of iffy. Basically people just like it when people tell God "up yours" and do things they weren't supposed to be able to do, like exist with no senses
