As I've posted before in VSN, I'll be moving to live in the US for a while, soon. A part of the trip I'm planning is a Tour-de-GL, so to speak, where I'll go meet the GLers who want to meet me in real life. However, in order not to bug people, I'd of course like your approval before going out to meet you people. So, if you're interested, please post here, state how long you'll think you could tolerate me (ie an afternoon out, going out together for a day, etc), which state you're from, whether you live on your own/with a significant other or with your parents and whether or not I can stay in for the night. Once I have all the people down, I'll start planning a route, etc.

If I get some furniture by that time, no problem. I saw a nice urine soaked couch for sale at the Salvation Army store. Maybe I'll get that for a guest bed.

Oregon isn't exactly on the beaten path, but is there any chance you'd get to this part of the world? If so, I'd love to meet you. I live with Mrs. Pablo and 21 year old daughter. Plenty of space for overnight guest(s), but I'd have to convince others that you weren't going to steal the silverware, especially the Ginsu Knives.

Coyote is only a 7 hour drive from here (east) BTW. Samadhi is about 8-10 hours by car south, I think.

I'm in Portland, OR. So depending on where Pablo is, you could get 2-for-1. My house is a mess, but we'd be happy to have you. (If you can tolerate the SIX critters.)

While I'm sure it would prove interesting, to say the least, I doubt you or anybody else in their right mind would want to spend time in north Dakota, espically if you plan on arriving in the next few months, where we're SUPPOSED to be having winter (although you wouldn't knwo it by looking outside right now...).

However, if for some deranged reason you actually do want to come to this desolate wasteland and see, of all people, *ME*.. then let me know and I'll think about it.

I'd like to do a day thing in DC, but there's no way you could stay here. my parents were very uneasy about the white elephant thing- i don't even know if they'd let me go... i lead a very sheltered life
but if they let me, i'd love to go.

Pablo: I'm not too certain where you are in the People's Republic, but when I lived in Fresno it was a 12 hour trip to Sunriver, Or. And Fresno is about 6 hours north of San Diego.

Anyway, be happy to have you Antrax. Just give me warning so I can slim up enough to fit into my shiny club shirts. Some good clubs around here. I could probably tolerate you for a weekend.

FYI I have three cats.

Vinny and I would love to meet Antrax! We live in the D.C. area also, so a meeting with both Antrax and SaberKitty would be lovely. If you don't mind our humble dwelling you can save the motel fees and sleep in our bathtub. If worse come to worse I got money to spare for a cheap filthy motel room so don't worry about that.

So how bout it Kitty and Antrax? A day in D.C. should be fun, a night in D.C. even better. I can't remember who else lives in this area but we can try to get everyone together, I'll buy the beer!

I put up with both Pablo and McDonalds throughout the full duration of a cup of coffee, so I'm sure I could withstand you for a few hours. If you decide to take the Oregon detour to say hi to Mike, perhaps you could make a stop in Ontario, OR? My crackerbox apartment isn't really fit for honored guests, but if your traveling schedule finds you in my humble town towards nightfall I'll cheerfully foot the bill for whatever lodging you might wish for...it would be well worth it just to finally meet up with you. Ummm...you do know I'll expect a game or two of chess out of you, right?

P.S. If you are able to make it through Ontario, with a weeks notice I can gaurantee having the whole day free, with little or no notice I can probably still manage a few hours in the afternoon...enough for a couple of games (my speed) or twenty (your speed).

TANSTAAFL lives in DC, but i don't know if she'd go since she's getting married soon(i think?) and stuff. I'd drag Mog along, but i don't think she'd go. I'm pretty sure that they're are some maryland people(like One Skunk Todd). but again, i don't know if thay want to come.

and to whoever's incharge of planning convention(HY and IS i guess):
don't you see why convention shuld be around here next year?

You should definately hit Oregon. Mike, Coyote, Jeep and myself. 4 GLers in a relatively small(population wise) state. And if you wait a while, I might have my own place for you crash at. If it's soon, then maybe we could just meet somewhere.

Don't sell your state short, Death Mage. There's lots to do there. You can visit Mt. Rushmore, the Black Hills, Badlands National Monument, Sturgis - where the Harley Davidson convention is each year, and the Corn Palace in Mitchell.

Ha ha, very funny Quail. You're a state off.

Not that I drive down to SD anyway, or anywhere for that matter. I loathe driving for too long, espically since I'm at about the only place of sizable population for a ways.

That and I'm originally from Southern Cali, so it takes a lot to convince me that a place has stuff to see. I mean, I'm accustom to living within a few hours of more amusement parks than one could wish for.

Although I guess there's some interesting stuff here if you come at the right times. I just never bother anymore. I'm happier on the 'net.

You mean they're separate states? Actually, I've been there a couple of times. I've had lunch in Minot and spent the night in Portal and Fargo. I don't remember the cows so much, just how very very flat the landscape around Portal and southern Saskatchewan was. And wheat. Lots and lots of wheat.

I kinda prefer SD because of all the cool places to go in Rapid City. But I'm elsewhere. And I wouldn't be very much of a tour guide. I mean I can show you one important building, then show you the only mall that actually matters, then go home and offer to let ya watch movies or play games.

As I said, if Antrax WANTS to come here, then I probably wouldn't mind. I'm just not gonna up and offer becuase I personally don't think there's enough to see here, and I doubt I'd be a very good host for him. Sorry Ant, I'd love to get a chance to talk with ya.. but I just don't think it'd be worth it for ya.

If you do a day thing in NYC, lemme know. I can hop down there from Boston in a heartbeat. I'd offer you the grand tour of Beantown (lots and LOTS of history and cool stuff) but i don't have a good place for you to crash. And the clubs here close at 2 a.m. And they don't sell alcohol on Sundays. Or after 11 p.m.

So... yeah... NYC. whenever.
