| I remember reading a while back that someone came across somesuch website by trawling through t'internet in alphabetical order. Is this possible. Is there an index at the end, so to speak? or anything like ? |

| I'm pretty sure the internet changes faster than anyone could search an index even if such an index someday became possible. |

I don't think there's any such index of the whole 'net like you may be thinking of, and I'm not even sure what you mean by "trawling through the 'net in alphabetical order".
There are a couple of directory sites which have posted lists of many popular sites -- sometimes these directories list tens of thousands of sites. I'm guessing the person you're referring to was browing one such directory in alphabetical order. However, these sites don't catalog all sites on the 'net, just the most popular, interesting, and pertinent ones. Even search engines don't index the whole Internet (for various reasons, such as the one Chuck mentioned).
One of the directories that I mentioned above is the Google directory, at http://directory.google.com/ . There's another directory out there that has a list of many sites in popularity order, but I don't remember the URL. |

| And apparently I benefit in some way every time someone reads a book. Thank goodness for the Harry Potter craze. |

You know... I always read your name as CasinoPET and didn't realize until just now that I was wrong. I always pictures a sort of fuzzy mess sitting at a slot machine. |
