HyToFry: http://www.greylabyrinth.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?action=getdailyusers
HyToFry: I'm so mean
TheKtulu7: Bah.
TheKtulu7: I was working on 100.
TheKtulu7: Then you go and make me feel all small.
TheKtulu7: haha
TheBlue0ctopus: ttyl everyone
TheBlue0ctopus has left the room.
TheKtulu7: How did you get so many posts so fast?
TheKtulu7: Earlier, you had like 30 something.
HyToFry: I cheated.
HyToFry: I can do that. I'm hytofry.
TheKtulu7: CHEATER
HyToFry: I can take you down to negative posts if I want. *nudge*
TheKtulu7: Well, I'm gonna get 100 the hard way.
TheKtulu7: Okay, nevermind.
HyToFry: Then I'll just go to 1000
TheKtulu7: I never called you a cheater
HyToFry: :-D

You see, yesterday I saw a post where someone mentioned their 65-post post-count, with a few hours of GL time left in the day. So I decided to try for 100 today. Well, hy made it a point to me--when he mentioned that he, without really trying, got 165 posts in a day (though I wonder how that's possible unless you spend ALL day at GL)--that perhaps I'm trying to hard. In some cases, posts weren't forced. In fact, I made many posts without trying too hard. But a few I had to spend time on. And Hy realized this. So he posted that link in GLC, and I saw he had 170+ posts.

Long story short, Hy caught me with my pants down. It's slightly embarrassing. I had the wrong idea. I'm going to keep trying for 100, but it'll happen with me just posting to my natural potential, not forced.

It's good you see Hy as the one to emulate on this. Because, as everyone knows, he is the paragon of quality.

Nah he's been a dick as far back as I can remember. Don't you remember how mean he was to those poor cops who were just doing their jobs?

Funny.
And I only edited that last post to change "there" to "their." I'd say something about great minds thinking alike, but I realise that we were both just pointing out the obvious.

But Hy's post is funnier, because it shows he thinks it's really ridiculous to say cops are doing a job. They're obviously imperialist agents of the fascist government, or something. See: "why speed limits are stupid, because Hy can drive fast with one car and not lose control".

Everyone who drives slower than you is a lunatic, and everyone who drives faster than you is a maniac... and don't forget to smile at speed cameras!

Yeah, so that has nothing to do with the original topic of this thread... but hey. It's not as if I'm posting for the sake of it in a vain attempt to bump up my post count... ahehehehe.... *runs away*

Maybe Antrax is just going to apply for the missionary position.

Might as well start a debate in this thread.

Howsow, Hy? Speed limits are there so that you do not endanger anyone's lives, not just your own. Speeding is often not a victimless crime.

And as for cops, I do not see them as "imperialist agents of the fascist government". They are there enforcing laws, i.e. rules that try to ensure that everyone is safe and happy.

when you dance on the edge of a cliff do you get fined?
or when you are trying to cross a frozen lake on your bike?

why do you get fined for not wearing a seatbelt??? it's not like youre endangering anyone but yourself. if you kill yourself, it's easy enough to prove you didn't have your seatbelt on, so the insurance company (the bloodsuckers they are anyway) is safe. why do you get fined for suicidal tendencies or sheer stupidity?

or is it the morbid thought that in a crash your body without the belts might fly through your front shield and cause more accidents further down the road?

If you're not wearing a seat belt you're more likely to become incapacited in an accident. Then rescue workers will have to risk their lives and the lives of others on the road trying to reach the accident scene before you die and risk pulling you out of a car that might burst into flames at any moment. Maybe if you paint "NO SEAT BELT, PLEASE LEAVE ME TO DIE" on the top, doors, hood, and trunk of your car then it would be all right to not wear it.

No, then the cops would just pull you over faster.

Recently the seatbelt law (at least in hatU) went from a secondary offense (you can't get pulled over for it) to a primary offense (you can get pulled over...)

The biggest change that I've noticed is the reasons cops pull kids over to harass them. It used to be "you were weaving back and forth a bit", now it's "it looked like you weren't wearing your seat belt. Often they resort to "your car matched the description." One time I got pulled over for "your car matched the description." "Of what," I inquered. "A red Ford Probe," was the dick's officer's reply.

"My maroon Toyota Tercel matched the description of a red Ford Probe? On what planet?"

"Well... these little cars all look the same."

Idiot.

Anyway, back to the topic that's not at hand.

I drive a very high performance vehicle. I can travel at speeds in excess of 100 mph (assuming good conditions and light traffic) without being any more of a risk than someone else driving at the speed limit. Is it possible that driving at this speed can cause a wreck? Of course... but, that's always possible. There's no reason why I (with ten years driving experiance, and a car that was made to travel at 100+mph) should be held to the same speed limit as a kid who's driving a geo metro with his learner's permit.

So where do you draw the line? I don't know. If I knew that, I'd run for some cushy government office. But there certainly has to be a better way than speed limits.

[I need to learn how to spell offence]

If my car got up to 100, it'd be downhill with a tail wind and the whole way parts would be flying off.

Whilst I can do it going uphill with the AC on. (and no one in the car would be none the wiser... it's one of those cars that doesn't feel fast.)

Also, slower driving bores me and makes me tired. Driving at high speeds keeps me ultra alert.... so, by that logic, I'm safer when I speed.
