According to the Hy, we'll be hitting Portland, OR next weekend. Under the crosshairs are Coyote, Jeep and Pablo. I'll need confirmations from Coyote and Pablo (I took Jeep emailing me his number as confirmation), and also, if I missed anyone from this area, speak up or forever miss the historical Antraxvisit (satisfaction guarenteed or your money back).

I emailed you my phone numbers. I also made the mistake of informing you I'd be gone for part of the weekend, so if we get home Sunday and all of our stuff is gone, we'll be very suspicious.

In fact, never mind. We're staying home.

I'm thinking that we might stay in Legrande on Saturday night. We'll head for portland/Seatle on Sunday, and stay in Kenniwick Sunday night. Monday we'll go to the other of Seatle/portland, and then head back to Le Grand to stay overnight to Tuesday. Then we'll go home Tuesday. We'll also be stopping in boise... maybe.

Stay in Baker instead of La Grande it's a much better town, and it doesn't add that much time to your drive.

Unless there is someone who we could meet in Baker... ?

There used to be someone in Baker to meet, but I don't live there anymore. So unless you want to drive all the way to Iowa I don't think it will happen. You could visit my mother and grandparents though, but that would probably be a little awkward.

Hy: Hi there.
Mom: Who are you?
Hy: We know Nauplius.
Mom: Who?
Hy: Your son.
Mom: Which son?
Hy: Nauplius.
Mom: Are you high?
Hy: Yes, yes I am.

Current plan: Getting to Portland, Oregon on Sunday morning. Seattle, Washington on Monday morning. Coyote hasn't contacted me, so we won't be meeting him, and Pablo will be out of town, which means we'll be swarming Jeep's place only

Also, Coyote, if you read this and want to meet, just get on AIM. A few of the GLers have my number.

EEEM is usually on, and she has it, but others do as well. Just ask in GLC.

The meeting's been and done and is now one more sliver of GL history. I'm working on a write-up--hope to have it done by tomorrow. Should I post it here in this thread or start a seperate one for it in VSN? It looks like it might be rather lengthy.

mmmm gin and... well... mmmm alcohol.

It's just the two of us. We're shooting to leave my cousin's house at noon and head for Portland (should take ~ three hours to get there.) But by shooting I mean... that's what we said, but I'm horrible at keeping to a schedule. (mainly just to annoy Antrax) muahhahahah

FYI, I did email both Hy and Antrax all my contact info. I never got acknowledgement from either, so I don't know if they received it. Also, I was gone all weekend in Washington - just got home today (Sunday).

I was not being anti-social, in case I gave anyone that impression inadvertantly.

Well, Hy and Antrax are still here (sleeping)... Antrax awarded me the most awkward phone conversation award:

<<RING>>
JEEP: Hello.

Voice: Hello, this is Mike. *brief pause* This number was on my cell phone...

JEEP: *blinks* Ookaay... *pause* OH!Pablo!

Pablo: What?

JEEP: Is this Pablo? From the...

Pablo: Why yes it is!

<<His tone changed to a much friendlier tone... not that he sounded mean or anything, it was a change from talking to a stranger to talking to someone you might know.>>

JEEP: Ah! This is Joe. I wasn't the one who actually called you, Chaz did. HyToFry did. Hy and Antrax are here.

<<Now there was some back and forth where I explained that Antrax and Hy are here.>>

Pablo: So who is this?

JEEP: This is Joe. Oh. JEEP. This is JEEP.

<<More back and forth where Pablo mentioned that he wasn't very familiar with me (probably because I haven't posted on the GL in ages) Then I passed the phone to Hy. That ends the awkward part... well the first one>>

Hy (on the phone): Great! Antrax and HyToFry... *turns to JEEP* JEEP, wanna meet Pablo for lunch tomorrow at Red Robin?

JEEP: Sure.

Hy: HyToFry, Antrax and JEEP. <<working out details...>>

JEEP (interrupting): Which Red Robin?

<<Hy figures out it the one next to Valley River Cener Shopping Complex. JEEP looks confused>>

Hy (to Pablo): We'll look it up on the internet. We'll find it.

<click>

I am very confused so I go to the Red Robin home page and find all locations in Oregon. I recognize where all the ones in the Portland Metro Area are and don't think any of them are near a shopping complex I never heard of... Off to check Pablo's profile... he's in Eugene (2 hour drive south) not Portland. Look up the Red Robin in Eugene, sure enough right by Valley River Center.

Much discussion about whether they can make it... decide they can't so Hy has to call Pablo back and cancel. Sucked.

Anyway, then we played Settler's. Antrax admitted that it's a much better game IRL. He's still not conceding that the lose half your resources on a 7 is not extremely terrible... even though he got some good deals by offering to hold cards for Hy.

Anyway, Antrax went to bed around 4am. Of course, Willow is teething and made the night difficult for my wife and I. I told Antrax that once she goes to sleep, she usually stays down for the night. Not last night. Boy was she MAD. I had her out in the kitchen for about an hour, then took her back to her crib. She refused and wailed. So I was up with Willow until about 7am, then my wife took her and let me nap a little. Now it's 10am and those slugs are still sleeping. I guess I'll go mention the time again. If they are awake, they might get up.

-JEEP

Favourite quote so far:
Antrax: ...can you throw in a sheep?
Hy: Hell no, sheep are really rare.
Antrax: I have sheep on 6, I'm just impatient.
Hy: Yeah, but 6 wasn't rolled at all this game. It's a rare number.

I did win the first game that we played, then Jeep won one, then Ant, then Jeep (at which point Hy was too drunk to go on)

Our conversation would have been far less awkward if A) I hadn't have been on a cell phone with poor reception and B) those guys would have realized I was in Eugene.
The conversation was around 8:00 PM and they were actually talking about visiting that same night. I'm thinking "you guys want to come to my house at 10:00 or later?" Hey, it's a school night! I just figured they were all drunk and didn't know what time it was. When Hy called back after realizing that we were 2+ hours away, I have to admit I was disappointed that I wouldn't meet them. Too bad, guys, I was going to buy lunch.

Well, we're on our way in that case!

Yeah, I was disapointed as well. We did get rather drunk last night--well I did... Antrax doesn't drink, despite what he may say... however, it wasn't until after Pablo called. The first phone call I made to try to find him went something like this:

Answering machine: "You have reached ###-####, please leave you.."

HyToFry. *clicks talk on the phone ??turning it off??* "Heh... his answering machine is the default electronic message... how lame... "
Jeep: "Did you call his work phone? My work phone is a default message."
HyToFry: "No, I called his house... he's just not l33t..." *looks at light still lit up on phone* "Hello? Whoops... I guess I didn't turn off the phone... we just (clicks off instead of talk) left him a message"

Or something close to that. I'm sure Pablo loved hearing it.

Actually, again I was disappointed. You mentioned a wierd message that you left on my home phone, and when I got home there was none. I do have a greeting on the machine - not the generic one, so apparently in your stupor, you dialed the wrong number. Somewhere, there is someone wondering what the hell is going on....but at least it's not us.

So when I come to Salt Lake, I'll expect you to buy lunch, since I was willing here.
