If this formula is True and Holy, what does it mean for long-term relationships? Am I going to have to fly Ms. Right around at almost the speed of light 6 months of the year, so that we can keep an appropriate ratio?

But flying her around at that velocity will increase her weight too. If only for 6 months each year, that's one hell of a yo-yo diet.

Only her weight relative to her slower-moving self. At 95% c, she should drop about half her relative weight every time I slow her down to a near-stop.

Here is my (probably offensive) two cents. People who are in school should go out with people their own age. They'll have more in common with each other, and more similar schedules, than they would with people who have jobs.

Once a person (of either sex) graduates from college, they should go out with someone 10 to 15 years older than they are. That person will know more about life, more about relationships, and will have more money. They will also indulge your relative immaturity, since they will have been in your situation 10-15 years ago. This relationship (or marriage) should run it's course by the time you're in your early to mid thirties, when you trade in for someone who just finished school and get to experience being on the other side of that relationship.

After that, men and women become different. After the second 10-15 year relationship, men should trade in for a new 21-year-old, and keep doing that every 10-15 years until they die. Women at that age, since the men will all be looking for 21-year-olds, will just have to pair off with each other.

Needless to say, I don't really believe any of that. Age makes absolutely no difference as long as you get along with each other and respect each other.

i agree with sami on the same ages around highschool time.
and odler person doesnt have to deal with school, and might overlook it etc.
once you hit college, whatever, do what you like
i can accept relationships with 10-15, what ever year gaps (though the 80 year old men dating 20 years olds is taking the piss) inb older people, alot of my friends parents are 10 years apart. fine no problem.
but theres a dude in my town (im sure hes a lovely person, and he is a pretty damn fine guitarist) but to me hes a scumbag, why? hes going out with a 16 year old girl. she hasnt even sa her gcse's (well, she has NOW, but hadnt when they started dating like 6 months ago) and hes 32, nno call me whatever. that is uncalled for.
maybe if he left till she was a twenty something, ok. but at 16 he shouldnt be near her. she wasn't even legal when he started dating her for crists sake. why her parents accept it, i dont know, if i was her dad, i'd fucking lock her in a room and take a gun to the bastard.

With your typing Macros, you'd wind up trying to kill him with a gnu intead of a gun.

Sami - I like that theory (the last line, that is). The only problem I have with that is the age gap does make a difference when old age brings it's infirmities and limits the older of the two. It's also hard to think about the actual event of having to think about putting your partner in a home or ultimately dealing with death or having to take care of an elderly person constantly when you're still only slightly past prime. Then what? I know love should win all, but it's hard to imagine and therefore, prepare to think about that age.

It's definitely hard to think about your partner dying or having to be put in a home, but that's just the way life is - no matter what you're ages are. People become infirm at different ages, people get into accidents, all kinds of things. I forget who said it, but - you are the only person who will never leave you. You just have to make the most of your life and your health while you have them and not waste time thinking about future problems. You can think about them when they come - and they will.

It's still better to love someone and then have to care for them or grieve for them than to cut yourself off from love to avoid pain later.

Sami: having read your post, I checked your profile for your birth date and now I'm left wondering which of the stages you are currently in. Still seeing an older gentleman, or have you been forsaken yet and left to pair off with other washed up ladies?

In stead of going for other ladies, find yourself a fine young college student. They'll be very grateful for the education. Trust me.
