Anybody have some favorites out there?

I have two.

I will always remember the old Buzzsaw/Solver (what that his name) conversations of many years ago. Solver has posted some stupid puzzles, then claimed that the answers weren't correct. He began ranting all over the whole board. And everywhere he went Buzz followed, reasoning, yelling, slamming and cursing. I used to get onto the board and look all over to find the latest 'action'. Hilarious.

The second one is two users long since gone, though one of them may have been Araya. They were discussing some puzzle involving a boat. There were pages and pages of formulas. They looked like something you would see on the bathroom wall at MIT. They debated the finer aspects of boyancy, weight, and attributes of fluid. Very entertaining if you skipped the formulas...

1. "Go Crazy Doggie"

2. CzarJ's "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH" following a post in which someone made a point by denying the existence of Santa Claus.

3. Just about every post by Coyote.

4. Borodog calling someone a "Fuckwit".

5. Courk's response: "Mommy, I learned a new word."

6. Solving a Paladin puzzle.

7. The "Ask IS" column. I told him I had Tourette's Syndrome and Narcolepsy and asked him for advice. He suggested I go somewhere that sleeping and swearing would be normal, such as to a Cleveland Browns football game.

8. Fried Egg becoming a (gasp) Libertarian(?)

9. Agreeing with Fried Egg. I forget what we agreed on.

10. Creating the best response ever to one of Borodog's rants, only to have him say, "Your 'response' was unresponsive, so I quit".

I love this place.

Finding out that PsychoFlame was none other than our beloved Macros. Since then, I've had a place in my heart for Trolls. You never know when they might become beloved members. Hell... even Will is doing better every day.

Go Crazy Doggie has to top my list too DM. It was by Bill Clinton if anyone can track it down from some archives or something.

Two of my favorites are 1) When Buzzsaw (I think) posted as The Dude in the first GL Mafia Soap and killed off mathgrant. 2) When IS hijacked the OT thread two people were using as their personal chat room and kept harassing about sexual fantasies and then posting as (forget the name)'s brain.

Buzzsaw later became more succinct in his put downs. I seem to remember a lengthly reply to one person, followed by a "Oh, and (forget name), go bark at the moon."

A less than satisfactory answer was given to a puzzle (Shadow of Flight) that many GL'ers had spent effort attempting to solve (apparently some spent more effort than others). This prompted extropalopakettle's topic:
The Minotaur is being absurd! I would like to see that thread again.

I learned right away that extro is no one to mess with.
The Minotaur didn't have the balls to debate extro's issue, but apparently in revenge, stole his password instead.

Shadow Answer: Minotaur is being absurd.

It was in the middle of that thread that I switched from 'extropalopakettle' to 'extro...' due to mysteriously losing my password. Now I'll probably lose it again.

Does anyone remember Hank and araya debating the structural virtues of wood vs. steel? It started as a Bulky Boats riddle somthing like..."if two boats are the same size and strength, one is constructed of wood, the other steel, which one is heavier?"

Hank contested the answer and so represented the 'wood point of view' and araya took up the steel position. The debate was largely over my head but interesting.

I didn't catch the direct reference to that riddle in your opener, firemeboy. The riddle posted by Hank was "Bulky Boats riddle, originally posted elsewhere by Brillo"

Hank's thread would have been more correctly called "Bulky Boats riddle, originally posted by Brillo who stole it directly from the game 'mindtrap' ".

Buzz just sparked a memory for me.

During a very hot debate between several of the GLers we were yelling and screaming and this and that. The thread quickly went from 10 to over 200 posts in a matter of hours. Then, in the midst of all the fighting, Buzzsaw posted "Holy Shjit Man!"

It was the funniest thing I've ever seen. <-- period.

I don't think it was a Paladin puzzle. I think it was some n00b who made it. He gave this laterial puzzle about a dog attacking, and the answer was something (I think) about the guy going into someone else' house in the middle of the night and abusing the dog, or something to that effect. It was... bizzare to say the least, and ended up becoming a GL Catch Phrase at the time.

Buzz telling Amy to bark at the moon was definitely one of my favorites.

Also, I remember back in the early GLC days, seeing a certain thread starting by Paladin which mentioned the ongoing adventures of CzarJ and Courk. I believe I was paranoid for a bit after that (thread: the first Soap thread, paranoid because, as far as I am aware, Paladin was never in chat to know about that).

5. A while ago I started a thread asking for the pros and cons of owning a hedgehog. Eventually the topic changed to manatees. Tom (anyone remember him?) said that I should get a manateeny and keep it in my tub. (A minitee!)

4. Earlier in the thread someone posted "All I know about hedgehogs is that they make a lot of noise when they're mating." I responded with something like, "I would rather have more pros than cons." Then, my favorite part, Pablo came up with a whole list of pros, including, "They are easy to find when they are mating."

3. The rest of that thread.

2. Zarriar's "Oh no! A baby ate my dingo!" sig.

1. CJ's "My plan for world domination is to attack England then Poland."

Agreed coyote. I often vaunt the fact that I've been registered on the GL longer than hy has, but i didn't post at all the first year, so it wasn't until the forum switch that i actually have any posts. Sadly, I remember none of the things mentioned in this thread barring the last two things courk just said.

100. 'Level EightyFour' posted some sort of anti-social diatribe--I can't recall what it was, something about certain people deserved to be killed or something like that. A couple of folks posted mild rebukes along the lines of "Hey, that's not very cool.", which of course just made Lvl 84 increase his button-pushing.

Then Borodog showed up. Borodog was not amused, and said so in no uncertain terms.

Lvl 84 backed down, and fast! "Hey man, I was just joking, don't take things so seriously..." But it was too late...Boro's teeth had clamped down firmly on his prey and he wasn't about to let go! It wasn't a pretty sight, but somehow, no one seemed to work up much sympathy for poor ol' Lvl 84.
That's when I first learned that Borodog was not one to be trifled with.

99. Paladin posted a puzzle that involved several people in a bar who were buying each other drinks. To add a personal touch, he used the names of some of the GL regulars for the people in the puzzle. All the Glers mentioned began making posts, and got progressively drunker as the thread went on.

98. The Ktulu ran a 'Lost in the Forest' game. Everyone playing had to select three different items to bring into the game to help them survive. One of CzarJ's selections was his teddy bear Jojo, who somehow managed to get himself involved in every situation confronting the players. Later in the game, when interest seemed to be waning, CzarJ carried on an absurd multi-post 'lecture' by some german professor who was trying to analyse the game despite being repeatedly smacked in the head with heavy objects. Every time he got hit the sound effect was done with an accent!
Originally posted by Professor von CzarJ:
*vhack!* OW!! *vhack!* OW!! *vhack!* OW!!

Maybe you just had to be there, but it's one of the few times I've literally been in tears from laughing so hard.

More memories to come when I think of them...believe me, there's been a lot.
