Yes, it is. And if you're tallying votes, I'd like to point out IMO Stanislaw Lem is one of the worst sci-fi authors of all times. I find him pompous and lengthy - reading a book of his is an exercise in stamina.

An introductory textbook on General Relativity, Godel, Escher, Bach, a transcript of some lectures by Werner Heisenberg about quantum mechanics, Martinus Veltman's book on the development of particle physics, Hawking's collection of the great books in physics and astronomy, and an introductory text on differential geometry. Concurrently. (it's finally summer vacation)

Angels and Demons was awesome and I just started The Da Vinci Code. If you haven't read either of these, then get a copy and read it. Dan Brown also wrote Digital Fortress which might be worth checking out. When I finish these, I plan to read Stephen King's Dark Tower series. Looks pretty good.

I'm condiering getting a copy of Memorial Day by Vince Flynn to read. But I think I'll wait for paperback. However, from what I've heard of it, I think Pablo would do well to read it too.

And I RARELY read anymore. So if a book catches *MY* attention, it's for a reason.

Actually, that does remind me, as long as I am posting here.

I have coppies of Animal Farm and 1984 that I need to read (in the case of Animal Farm, reread). Also, one of these days I MAY read my copy of Indian Killer. The author, Sherman Alexie, gave a speach at my school, which was more like a comedy routine. VERY good stuff, and if his books are as well written as his preformance, this promises to be an amazing book. (I got this and The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven signed. ). I also may one day get around to reading The Cardinal of the Kremlin that's part of my Tom Clancy double novel. (The first part, Red Storm Rising, is the latest book I've read.. but it was a while ago.)

And Catch-22 is on my list for "I do plan on reading this... some day".

The Westing Game is fairly good and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was the best one yet, in my opinion. Just got through reading a People Magazine from like last week, and they rated a book called The Rule of Four. It received four out of four stars and was considered Da Vinci Code caliber, but without the "cheesy writing". Looks like a great book and is next on my list.

Also, I need to get round to reading the Tripod Saga by John Cristopher. He was nice enough to send me the set signed so I may as well read them.

Just finished Pratchett's Amazing Maurice. For a childrens' book, surprisingly good, but then again, it's Pratchett.

Now reading Wilbur Smith's Blue Horizon. I simply love his works, especially the ones set (like this one) in Southern Africa.

Finished Heartfire, 5th book in the Alvin Maker series by Orson Scott Card. It was actually pretty good. I enjoyed it more this time around then when I first read it 10 years ago.

Started reading Gödel, Escher, Bach by Hofstadter, since it was so highly recommended in the GL Top 10 Books thread. Dam this thing is huge! Almost half way through with the Preface.

A Separate Peace is easily on my list of the Top Ten Worst Books Considered High Literature By Some. The movie (there's a movie for everything) is even worse.

I'm currently reading Berkeley's Treatise Concerning the Principles of Human Knowledge and Kazuo Ishiguro's The Unconsoled.

Still dregging through Godel, Eschel , and Bach. Up to chapter 4 now, but i can't read the thing in a consistent manner. The ideas take a while to digest.

Also halfway through Neil Gaiman's American Gods. This is the first time I have read any of his works, and it's pretty good. I am sorry I haven't pick him up in the past. I love his writing style and his characters.

Any suggestion to other books by him?
