I'm getting my tonsils out Tuesday. In the event that I'm too out of it to get my orders in by the deadline, could it be pushed back a day?

Rome is clearly in disorder, it took Emperor Cristian 5 days to raise 2 armies. It wasn't like that when I kept the bridge with Horatius. (and don't tempt me - I can recite most of it from memory). anyway it is Spring 06, keep rowing you slaves

I think those who get their orders in late should forfeit one unit (at random) per day until all their units have been eliminated and they drop out of the game.

Sounds fair to me!

Better yet, I think each late player should forfeit one unit to each of the on-time players.

Well all the moves are in but I've been VERY buy, so I'll do it later today (Friday evening BST). Please do try to get moves in on time, as I leave a gap in my schedules for Wednesday and Friday evening diplomacy adjudications, and (surprise, surprise) I do actually do other things than watch the GL for 20 hours a day.

I think you should have fixed deadlines (subject to prior notification if one can't be met) and penalise the players who fail to meet them.

I remember in the Diplomacy 1 game, I was penalised by missing a turn after failing to get my moves in and I think that was fair. Why not bring back that rule?

CF, if you are on and want to send me the moves, I could have a map up so everyone will know what's happened (But only if you send them in the next hour or so, going to meet Luna in town then.). Or you could just post them and we can work it out ourselves.

It's been my style to wait for moves, and if they're an hour or so late it's no problem (like Ferris's working day start just about coincides with midnight here). This I don't mind, but when it runs to more than about 4 hours (and is un-notified), it screws up my schedules. I think I will in future post an NMR. As for fried Egg's problem that was actually 4 days, and I did give him 24 hours. That was unfortunate, and I didn't much enjoy doing it. In particular, the AM game is the "serious" Dip game and is an invitational, and I think I will institute the rule for that. The others i don't mind as much. No problem really, but take note: Late postings for dip 3 may get you a NMR if un-notified
