Aren't we supposed to hold off on the voting until all the poems have been posted?

quote:
My Work List

So much I have to do each busy day,
The work I must complete, it breaks my back.
Tack tiles to floors, walls up, roofs on, I say,
At end of day sometimes the sense I lack...

To say, come up and stay, my darling love,
Our love is pure, I'll never see your like,
You're perfect in my eyes, a gentle dove,
Let's set a day aside and take a hike.

I know my wayward ways would annoy some,
the time I waste at work should be with you,
Spent at the zoo, get to the museum,
But never you complain, you're always true.

Life goes too fast, the days they all fly by.
Tomorrow is yours, apple of my eye.
Cute .

*slaps forehead*
Heh heh, I should've seen this coming . Werebear's gambit is to be judged by the masses. While it would be nice to have people vote on every poem (which would require every submission in), I don't mind people voting on as many poems as they feel like. And since your submissions won't change, there's no harm in them voting now. Poets voting their colleagues could (in theory) lead to the best being given bad marks out of fear of them, so I'll pass for now. Feel free to ask friends to come over and rate your work though - it's not like I can stop you anyhow. Just make sure you trust them enough, cause I'll be accepting votes by any means (Mail, chat, thread) available .

So all you people, come in and give our poets a piece of your mind! Feel free to savage them, they've been warned . Voting scale for each poem goes from +5(I want to have your baby) to -5(You should be executed for crimes against the english language). I suggest that voters take in mind the extent to which a poem fulfills the round requirements, but I can't force you to. In this round, the objective was to write a sonnet containing at least 5 words featured at the "Oh my word!" thread. Droll commentary is also welcome .

Sofis tried to show us WereBear's unique expressions and succeeded in getting them all. I only saw "tack tile" at first glance and knew what he was about.

I do not like critiquing my own work.

For now, I'll settle with a "get your masterworks in ASAP, pretty please."

Also, voting has officialy begun!

A voter who wishes to remain anonymous voted over IM a 1 for each of you except for werebear, who got a 3, and Hitchhiker, who got a 5!

So come on, and vote on- or off- thread (the latter by reaching me), rating as many of the poems as you'd like, from -5 to 5!

I'm in an admiring mood today!

Werebear: 4 for outright cleverness
Beartalon: 2 not particularly inspired, but still quite good. Would have gotten a 2 if it had followed the rhyme scheme.
Hitchhiker: 4
Sofis: 1 Didn't understand it very much... Followed the form.
Wordcross: Amusing. I'm still debating... A three, perhaps? Seems about right.

So, officially:
Beartalon: 2
Hitchhiker: 4
Sofis: 1
Werebear: 4
Wordcross: 3

I'll be checking back every round. The scores will get less and less merciful... I didn't rate anyone 0 or negative...

Long overdue bump, to get a few more votes in. Rate any poem you feel like from -5 to 5. Go on, give'em what they deserve .

Hmm.. this is taking longer than expected. Oh, and I finally noticed the title typo. Changing it..

OK, as there doesn't seem to be too many non-participating GLers interested in this wonderful poetry, I'll have to allow the poets to vote on their colleagues. The poets however may not rate any two of their colleagues the same. So hopefully we will soon move on to the somewhat easier and more predictable round two.

This has been held back long enough, I don't think we're going to get any more votes so:

* The poets are now lined up in the dust, in the Colisseum's center. Some bloke with a huge horn in front of his mouth yells each their names, in sequence. The crowd than roars their approval (or lack thereof). Hitchhiker is heavily applauded, takes her bow, and then is allowed to leave. The proccess continues with the two bears, then Sofis. Only wordcross is left. He's hit on a sympathetic crowd, but the guy in the box will not leave his pets hungry. He turns his thumb downwards, and the rest, as they say, is ancient history.*

Werebear 4 2 4 3 4 -2 15
Hitchhiker 3 3 4 2 5 4 1 22
wordcross 1 2 3 2 1 2 11
Beartalon 0 4 2 3 1 3 3 16
Sofis 4 1 3 1 2 3 14

Sadly, wordcross has become tiger chow. Congratulations to the rest of you! You get to write another day..

Round 2. The inevitable seasonal round

Ever wondered what Christmas is like in Japan? Taking my cue from the last two GL puzzles, in this round our poets will have to write one to three haikus, on a subject of Christmas, or Hannukah, or the new year celebration, or something of the sort. Please remember that haikus' lines do not rhyme (although I won't complain if you rhyme between haikus). Get your skates on, and best of luck!

I'm not thinking about trying to "win" as I write these. I just writing from gut feelings today, and they're pretty low right now.

2. Seasonal Feelings

Christmas is lonely
For those without family
Darkened heavy hearts

I gave you a gift
You asked for the sales receipt
Love unwrapped, tossed out

Paper, tape, ribbons
And bow to mask my sad eyes
Wrapping for the hurt

Me neither. I just look at the restrictions given, try to come up with an idea I like, and write it.
