Looking around, the only things you can see are the dirt road, the small bushes attempting to grow beside the road, and your companions. Hopefully you'll reach Kallamehr soon, as you don't think you'll be able to cope with generic scenery for much longer.

I'm giving Degenerate a little more time, then we're starting.

((Guess Degenerate's not showing. On with the quest!))
The Riddling Reaver
Act One
The Curse of Kallamehr

You have been trekking across Allansia, in search of adventure, excitement - and above all treasure! Forsaking the western shores, you headed south, and came to the land of Kallamehr, which is ruled by the noble house of Rangor. Compared to the hardships you faced on the journey, Kallamehr promises comfort and rich pickings. Judging by the rounded bellies of the traders you have passed on the road, business must be good around here.
After two months' solid travelling, interrupted only by the occasional skirmish with beasts and bandits, you have caught the scent of the sea in the wind. The road broadens as it approaches the town of Kallamehr, and you see its famous tower looming majestically in the distance. As you draw near the town, you catch sight of the sprawling collection of buildings which huddle beneath the tower. The twisting architecture is strange to your northern eyes; it seems to have no order to it. You wonder how on earth people can live in such chaotic squalor.
An imposing pair of gates looms before you. Strangely, no guards seem to be around, and the gates are open. You can make out the faint sound of shouting from the other side of town, but the houses block your vision and you cannot see what the commotio is about.
As you stand near the gateway, you hear thumping from the gatehouse to your left. Someone seems to be trying to attract your attention.
'In the name of charity, let me out!' a tiny voice implores. 'Surely I, one of Baron Bluestone's most loyal subjects, should have the right to witness his struggle? Let me out!'
Edging closer, you see a man's gaunt face pressed against the door's grille. Manacled hands grip the bars, and tears stain his grubby face. He does not look much like a loyal citizen to you, and he has certainly been locked in the gatehouse for good reason. There are no keys near by.
Abandoning him to his fate, you hurry towards the sound of the crowd, which gets louder as you get closer. Carts sit unattended, stalls unguarded, and livestock runs free. Minutes after leaving the gate, you arrive at the central square - the scene of the commotion. Packed into the square is a vast crowd (surely the entire population of Kallamehr, apart from the wrench in the gatehouse!). Each pair of eyes is fixed on the top of the tower, where a spindly figure is struggling to free himself from the clutches of a short robed man, who in turn is trying to force the other off the edge of the balcony. The spindly man is teetering on the edge. With every twist and turn the onlookers gasp ever louder.
The tension is unbearable.

You are in the throng of townpeople, struggling to avoid being crushed against the sea wall. People are shrieking in disbelief and pandemonium reigns. You guess that it is the Baron up there, fighting for his life. But why?
Nobody seems able to do anything; guardsmen are pounding in vain on the mighty oaken doors of the tower. The crowd just stands and stares. The sea crashes against vicious rocks at the foot of the cliff below the tower. Now is your chance to demonstrate your heroism. Can you save the Baron? But how do you reach him?

~looks around for a place to tie a rope~

Is there a good place to tie a rope for climbing purposes? or is the tower itself climbable?

Looking at the tower, you see that it is covered with ivy, some of which may be strong enough to hold a man. There are windows roughly halfway up the tower.
You cannot see any keys on any of the guards.

Is there a place to tie a security rope for a climb, maybe near the top of the tower, and is the rope long enough?

You cannot see anywhere to tie a rope. Even if there was, how could you reach it?
The guards begin another attempt to bash down the oak doors.

No. The Levitation spell only sends things up or down, not side to side. Last I saw, the Baron was standing/fighting for his life on the top of the tower. Can't pull him through the tower.

((You can be Human, Elf or Troll. They get different bonuses or penalties on certain rolls. You choose. There has been nothing so far that is affected by race.))
Fezzik and CrystyB start climbing the tower at the same time, after Fezzik drops his backpack and all of his inventory at Degenerate's feet. The crowd goes relatively quiet and watches the two climb...
Fezzik reaches the first window safely, but from the other side of the tower the crowd gasps as a loud cracking noise is heard.

~I hoist myself onto the window sil and look to see if there is glass, or a latch that I can break to get in. I also peer in to see If there is an opposite window that I might see what's happening on the other side of the tower~

btw, I'll be human, because I'm guessing they're physically stronger, but less agile. I'll take strength over dexterity.

((There is rope in your backpack, and those 10 provisions. There is a limit to what backpacks can carry. Generally, anything you pick up goes in your backpack, unless you do anything to it, like examine it, throw it at something, or anything else. It gets taken out automatically. Spare weapons also g in the backpack, so you can't use two at the same time.))

Looking at the tower, you can see that there are three sides climbable. The fourth side is facing the sea, and is over a cliff.
Another loud crack is heard, but soon afterwards the crowd cheers at something.

After you cast Levitation on CrystyB, you see him struggle to hold on for a little while. Shortly, though, he gives up and lets go, and much to his surprise starts floating downwards gently. The crowd cheers even louder than before at this. Soon, he is standing on the ground next to you.
