The final scores are as follows:
In no particular order (scores invisible)
Werebear 12
UHV 9
Duphrates 11
Termital 17
Dethwing 9
MadMax 6
Jeep BYE
Admittedly MadMax had someone playing on her behalf, but they played some very inept moved by voting for 4 of their own answers. This scores 0 and altered the course of the game.

Bold = Correct Answer.

Ball Game
Everyone is loaded into the following grid
code:
-------------------------
|\ ^ /|\ ^ /|\ ^ /|
|< UHV >|< DPH >|< WRB >|
|/ V \|/ V \|/ V \|
-------------------------
|\ ^ /|\ ^ /|\ ^ /|
|< TML >|< DTH >|< JEE >|
|/ V \|/ V \|/ V \|
-------------------------
A ball will be placed on the grid, and whoever has the ball must pass it up down left or right. If the ball moves off the edge of the grid it wraps to the other side.
To move all you do is edit the previous persons post and post the grid with your move.
You will notice the symbols <, >, ^, /, \ and V. These are the directions you can move the ball. Once you move the ball you must delete the direction you just used from your square, and you cannot move the ball that way again. The worst is the person who gets stuck with the ball and no moves left. The / and \ represent diagonal pushes. You may only make one diagonal push and after that you must delete all the / and \ moves from your square.
When you post please put the next persons name in bold to make sure they know it is there turn. You have 48 hours for your turn max, otherwise I will choose via random.org or dice throws etc...
A sample game
code:
ABC has the ball
-----------------
|\ ^ /|\ ^ /|
|< ABC >|< DEF >|
|/ V \|/ V \|
-----------------
|\ ^ /|\ ^ /|
|< GHI >|< JKL >|
|/ V \|/ V \|
-----------------
.
passes left to DEF
-----------------
|\ ^ /|\ ^ /|
|< ABC |< DEF >|
|/ V \|/ V \|
-----------------
|\ ^ /|\ ^ /|
|< GHI >|< JKL >|
|/ V \|/ V \|
-----------------
Removes the > arrow and puts DEFs name in bold
.
DEF plays up one, and the ball wraps
-----------------
|\ ^ /|\ /|
|< ABC |< DEF >|
|/ V \|/ V \|
-----------------
|\ ^ /|\ ^ /|
|< GHI >|< JKL >|
|/ V \|/ V \|
-----------------
.
JKL plays diagonally onto ABC
to make him use more of his
Valuable doorways
-----------------
|\ ^ /|\ /|
|< ABC |< DEF >|
|/ V \|/ V \|
-----------------
|\ ^ /| ^ |
|< GHI >|< JKL >|
|/ V \| V |
-----------------
You will note that in the sample game JKL removed all his \'s and /'s at once. You may only play one diagonal move in the game.
Speed of this game is largely up to participation - so please all play fairly.
TERMITAL who won the last round will get a free chance to choose who starts with the ball.
THIS IS A NO BYE ROUND

Since my last turn has clearly been seen by everyone, I'm going to edit it to have the proper bolding...

I'm beginning to think we have little choice in the matter. These observations mostly account for it.
1) Assumption of no diagonal moves: Since the activity is orthogonically symmetrical, and operators are in reversible pairs, all the operators will be used, thus ensuring the ball ends up where it started when none are left. Namely, dethy.
2) In the same manner, if diagonal moves choices are made in reversible pairs (irrespective of actual position in the time sequence), the result will not differ from the purely orthogonal situation. Since you may use your "blocked by pass" direction if you have no other left, this cannot lead to blocks that would "prematurely" stick the ball in someone hands.
The latter point means that all the rest of us have to do to win is a) I have to reverse the Duphrates use of the diagonal movement when I (inadvertently) gain control of the ball b) have UnheardVoice and Werebear hold on to their diagonal movements to reverse yours. c)Have jeep not use the diagonal. All of this is very much feasible.
There are some other combinations of diagonals that also lead to the same effect. I had originally started with the suspicion that any even combination of diagonals would not alter the result, but I've not stumbled on the proof so far. But can any of you find a sequence of moves that does not end in Dethy's demise?
Also note that the only ways to be forced to play a diagonal are:
i) No other direction left.
ii) One hor direction left, from the side you just received from.
iii) One or both vert left, when receiving a vertical pass.
Quite problematic.
What this all means is that this is at best a complex game of making yourself likeable to other players, so that they use their diagonals not to your detriment. And of course, the one that holds on to it longer will be able to extort you the most . At worst (no pun intended), this is just a complex death trap for whomever I got to pick.
Now Dethy, I'm not trying to kill you. Honestly . After all, I pointed out to amb what this game would mean for you in its original incarnation. And I posted this complaint. And I move to have this round scrapped, for the reasons mentioned above. If it comes down to extortion though, I'd like some engaging activity for that mole-cum-survivor game you're running .
To repeat, for those not bothering to read long posts:
I move to scrap this round. |

bah - I was actually hoping this round would cause players to willingly team up and try to ping someone deliberately.
Im too tired at the moment to put up another round, but if more players agree I will reluctantly scrap it and move on. I would like to see a challenge like this that works, so if any one has any suggestions....

I have to admit when I first saw it, I thought that it wasn't really a game of the 'worst' but one where someone would lose because they were unlucky enough to be picked on (I didn't have the brains, time or inclination to look into it as deeply as Termital though ). I believe Termitals theory, and think it is unfair, so therefore vote for the round to be scrapped.

Agreed. I don't think this round is fair for a game called "The Worst". Besides, I wanted to pick on Jeep. But just for fun....
code:
-------------------------
|\ ^ /| ^ |\ /|
|< UHV >|< DPH |< WRB >|
|/ V \| V |/ \|
-------------------------
|\ ^ /|\ /|\ /|
|< TML |< DTH | JEE >|

-------------------------
|\ ^ /|\ ^ /|\ ^ /|
|< UHV >|< DPH >|< WRB >|
|/ V \|/ V \|/ V \|
-------------------------
|\ ^ /|\ ^ /|\ ^ /|
|< TML >|< DTH >|< JEE >|
|/ V \|/ V \|/ V \|
-------------------------
Here's proof that the game CAN end without dethwing losing. Let's say we start with dethwing, and everyone wants Jeep out. So dethwing sends it to Jeep, who gets rid of it twice to Werebear (and gets it back) once to Termital (and gets it back) then sends it back to dethwing. Basically, every time he gets rid of it (not using his diagonals) it's given back to him. This gives us:
code:
NOT THE GAME BOARD - THEORY TESTING HERE
-------------------------
|\ ^ /|\ ^ /|\ /|
|< UHV >|< DPH >|< WRB >|
|/ V \|/ V \|/ \|
-------------------------
|\ ^ /|\ ^ /|\ /|
| TML >|< DTH | JEE |
|/ V \|/ V \|/ \|
-------------------------
Now, as you see, there are two people who can give it to Jeep, (Duphrates and UnheardVoice)and he only has his diagonals to escape once. Now for the other interesting part-- disincluding the diagonals, Dethwing would lose every time, as for every path IN there is a path OUT. Once he starts, there is no other conclusion except him losing. It is the diagonals that kill someone, and the diagonals only, as there are two coming in, and only one going out. Duphrates sent his to Termital. If one other person does, then Termital is the one to die... so the entire game hinges upon who gets two diagonals sent to them first. So if last move, I had sent my diagonals to Termital, it would probably have been fatal. Teach me to post before philosophizing.
Any comments?

Werebear, you can't give it back to me. So I believe it is still you to move.
As for my vote: The game is acceptable and fair. However, it determines who is the "worst" at convincing others that they should be allowed to continue. I don't think it is really on theme. Which boils down to a pretty agnostic view: I won't object to the game being cancelled and I won't object to it continuing.

ALPHASHOVE A no BYE round.
You have a grid of letters. By moving a row or column any amount, up down left or right you need to try and form words of three letters or more. When a word forms you may remove ALL its letters from the grid. When you move a row or column gaps move with it as well. Words you didnt form on that move cannot be removed.
eg
code:
ABC
ARXT
THA
S
Move 1
code:
Move ABC left two
-
ABC
ARXT
THA
S
The word BATS is formed and removed making
code:
A C
RXT
HA
code:
Move T down 1
A C
RX
HAT
Making HAT
code:

The worst is the person who has the most tiles left over at the end. If players are equal in the number of tiles left, then the person who took the most moves to achieve that mark will be considered the worst.
code:
JOUBTGPE
DRAUTSUI
VALSEOKA
OHODEXLF
GCAGRDDE
SWINTNRB
PILFEZHY
I have made this grid to have a lot of initial moves that ruin other equally nice moves.
Words may run in any direction.

If you cause words to be formed that intersect through each other both are removed.
You may form more than one word at a time, thus removing all of them at once.
You may make moves that form no words at all if you believe there to be an advantage in doing so....

I assume that you can choose not to remove a word that is formed? (Otherwise it's a mod's nightmare because most people will not know the dictionary well enough to catch everything...)
